Japan Embassy New Delhi Launches Japan Month 2025, Events Across India
This September and October, India celebrates Japan Month 2025 with a rich series of events showcasing Japan’s vibrant culture, technology, and bilateral ties, promoted by the Japan Embassy.
New Delhi, India – The Embassy of Japan in New Delhi has officially announced the celebration of Japan Month 2025, set to take place throughout September and October across multiple locations in India. Following the resounding success of last year’s edition, which saw over 100 events nationwide, including Mela Mela Anime Japan, this year promises an even grander showcase of Japanese culture, innovation, and the deep-rooted partnership shared between the two nations.
Japan Month has become a flagship platform under the embassy’s cultural diplomacy efforts, designed to promote mutual exchange, understanding, and appreciation between India and Japan. The embassy is coordinating a diverse calendar of activities, including film festivals, traditional art performances, golf events, workshops, exhibitions, culinary experiences, technology demos, and educational programs across several cities. Like last year, the ACN Network is organising the Japan-India Maitri Golf Cup 2025 in Delhi NCR on 25th October.
Last year, Japan Month featured landmark events such as traditional tea ceremonies, ikebana (flower arranging) workshops, samurai and ninja displays, anime and manga fairs, and Japanese language learning sessions. The cultural richness extended beyond metropolitan hubs, reaching smaller towns and educational institutions, fostering a wide-ranging engagement. The impressive lineup attracted thousands of participants, strengthening people-to-people ties and enhancing cultural diplomacy.
Highlighting technology and innovation, the embassy partnered with leading Japanese companies and academic institutions to organise expos showcasing Japanese advancements in robotics, green energy, and smart city solutions. These initiatives demonstrated Japan’s commitment to supporting India’s development goals and enhancing bilateral technological cooperation.
The current edition also emphasises sustainability and environmental awareness, featuring seminars and interactive sessions on climate change, renewable energy, and societal innovation led by Japanese experts. This thematic focus aligns with shared priorities under the India-Japan partnership, particularly through initiatives such as the Indo-Japan Green Strategic Partnership.
Additionally, the embassy has published an official event list on its website, providing detailed schedules and venues to ensure widespread public accessibility and participation. Events will be held in metropolitan centres like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata, as well as in numerous other locations across India, offering a unique opportunity for communities to experience various facets of Japanese culture and technology firsthand.
The cultural celebration further reflects the strengthening diplomatic, economic, and social relations between Japan and India. Over the past decade, bilateral trade, investment, and strategic cooperation have seen significant growth, with Japan emerging as one of India’s key development partners and investment sources.
Japan Month 2025 is a vibrant celebration of cultural friendship and collaboration, and the embassy seeks to deepen understanding and expand cooperation in various spheres, including technology, education, and sustainable development, benefiting both our peoples.
Japan Month also extends outreach to youth, involving universities and schools to promote Japanese language education and scholarship opportunities. Special programs encourage youth participation, highlighting career prospects through Indo-Japanese ventures and academia.
For cultural enthusiasts, Japan Month continues to be a beacon of discovery, learning, and enjoyment. It reinforces the warmth and multi-dimensional nature of India-Japan relations beyond diplomatic and economic corridors, reaching the heart of communities and individuals.
As the festival unfolds across India this September and October, it invites everyone to immerse themselves in the spirit of Japan–India friendship and explore the countless cultural, technological, and educational experiences on offer.
