New Delhi, India – Beers and Cheers were crowned champions of the inaugural Karma Lakelands Golf League (KLGL) after clinching the title in a closely contested 18-hole Match Play final, as the eco-resort concluded its first-ever golf league with a grand finale and gala dinner celebrating sporting excellence and international camaraderie.

Tsuruya Ninjas finished as runners-up, earning acclaim for their consistent performance across the season. The results capped a three-month league that brought together competitive sport, lifestyle engagement, and cross-cultural participation, further positioning KLGL as a premium team-based amateur golf tournament in India.

A defining highlight of the league’s debut season was the historic participation of Team Japan, marking the first time a Japanese team competed in an Indian golf league of this scale. The entry of Team Japan added a distinctive Indo-Japanese dimension to KLGL, reinforcing golf’s growing role as a platform for people-to-people ties and informal diplomacy between the two countries.

Comprising Japanese expatriates and professionals working in India alongside an Indian national player, Team Japan symbolised the deepening social and cultural integration of the Japanese community within India’s sporting ecosystem.

Their participation resonated strongly with KLGL’s vision of building an inclusive league that goes beyond competition to foster friendship, collaboration, and shared sporting values.

The inaugural season featured eight teams competing across eight rounds, culminating in a high-intensity elimination format. Alongside team honours, the closing ceremony recognised outstanding individual performances, with awards for Overall Best Gross, Overall Best Net, Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, and the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) title, celebrating skill, precision, and sportsmanship.

The grand finale evening brought together players, team owners, partners, and members for team walk-ins, trophy presentations, live entertainment, and a gala dinner. Several partners, including Sony, Audi, Philips, Ilios 72, Proost, The Wellness Co., Cobra Puma Golf, and Fast&Up, were felicitated for supporting the league, with Ballantine’s as the liquor partner.

Reflecting on the league’s success, Aryadev Khurana, Vice President, Karma Lakelands, noted that the inaugural season had laid the foundation for a new chapter of sporting camaraderie. He said the enthusiasm, competition, and unity displayed by all teams—particularly the international flavour brought in by Team Japan—captured the true spirit of the game and reinforced Karma Lakelands’ standing as a premier golfing destination.

With the Golf Lounge now fully operational, Karma Lakelands continues to strengthen its positioning as a holistic lifestyle and golfing hub where competition, technology, learning, and celebration converge. The success of Season 1, coupled with international participation such as Team Japan, has set the stage for larger future editions, deeper global engagement, and a stronger Indo-international golfing narrative.
