Japan confer top honor upon Dr. Jyotsna Suri, Baba Kalyani; Both have Bharat (India) in common  

They will receive 2019 Autumn Decorations under the title Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star for the current year.

NEW DELHI: The Government of Japan has announced to confer its top honour 2019 Autumn Decorations upon two Indian business leaders in recognition of their contributions towards strengthening Japan-India relations in the economic and tourism sphere.

Dr. Jyotsna Suri, the Chairperson & Managing Director, Bharat Hotels of The Lalit Hotel fame, and Baba Kalyani, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Forge Limited will receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Stars for the year 2019.

Dr. Jyotsna Suri:

According to a press release issued by the Japan Embassy in India, Dr. Jyotsna Suri is among this year’s foreign recipients of 2019 Autumn Decorations in recognition of her contributions to strengthening the Japan-India relations in economic and tourism fields.

Dr. Suri, the Co-Chair, FICCI Forum of Parliamentarians Council since 2016, has been the President, FICCI (2015-2016). She is also the Chairperson, FICCI Tourism Committee since 2006

Dr. Suri contributed to the India Tourism Conference held in Tokyo in 2007. She also promoted the Japanese tourism companies’ participation in the Great Indian Travel Bazaar held in India since 2007.

In addition, she took initiative to organize the first India-Japan Tourism Meet in 2016. This Meet has been held three times so far, the Japan embassy releases stated adding the number of Indian people visiting Japan is increasing every year due to her efforts.

As the Co-Chair of the FICCI Forum of Parliamentarians Council, Dr. Suri has contributed to strengthening the people-to-people exchanges between Japan and India. Since her appointment as Co-Chair, she has supported and led the activities of the India-Japan Parliamentarians Forum, which is established in the FICCI Forum of Parliamentarians Council.

Due to her efforts, the delegation of India-Japan Parliamentarians Forum visited Japan in 2017, after a gap of 6 years. As it delivers the announcement of her receiving the decoration, the Embassy of Japan in India pays tribute to Dr. Suri’s long years of service.

Baba Kalyani (Babasahed Neelkanth Kalyani):

Baba Kalyani is among this year’s foreign recipients and, in recognition of his contribution to strengthening the Japan and India relations in economic field.

Co-Chairman, Japan-India Business Leader’s Forum and Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Forge Limited, Kalyani has participated, as a member, in the Japan-India Business Leaders Forum (BLF), which was established in 2007 with the initiatives of Prime Minister Abe and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Since 2013, Mr. Kalyani has held the position of Co-Chairman in BLF. He has contributed actively to this forum by leading the discussions and preparing the reports. In the reports, he has been reflecting the voice of Japanese companies and has been patiently encouraging the Indian side for business expansion in India by Japanese companies.

In this process, Kalyani has raised the Indian companies’ interests to Japan and contributed to strengthening the cooperation between Japanese and Indian economic entities. As the Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Forge Limited, Kalyani has also formed partnerships with many Japanese companies and supported their advancement in India. As it delivers the announcement of his receiving the decoration, the Embassy of Japan in India pays tribute to Kalyani’s long years of service.
