New Delhi, India – The Korean community in India is set to mark a historic milestone with the grand “Korean Community 70th Anniversary Year-End Concert,” a cultural extravaganza commemorating seventy years of vibrant Korean presence in the country. Organised by the Korean Association in India, this landmark celebration will take place on Saturday, December 20th, hosted at the prestigious O.P. Jindal Auditorium, National Trust for the Handicapped in New Delhi’s Qutub Institutional Area.

The event promises to be a rich tapestry of music and performance, bringing together acclaimed Korean artists for an evening that blends artistic excellence with heartfelt gratitude toward the enduring friendship between the Korean and Indian communities.

Among the featured performers are violin virtuoso Baek Jin-joo, celebrated soprano Yoo Kyungjin, the melodious soprano Kim Mihyun, and contemporary dance artist Im Jongkyung. Each performer represents the artistic vibrancy and multicultural spirit that have defined the Korean diaspora’s journey in India.

According to Lee Kwang-il, Chairman, Korean Association in India, “This concert is far more than a year-end celebration—it is a heartfelt tribute to seventy remarkable years of the Korean community’s journey in India. Lee added, “By bringing together world-class Korean artists and opening this celebration to the public, we aim to create an evening that unites audiences through music, emotion, and cultural harmony. We are confident that this concert will strengthen the bonds between our two nations and inspire the next chapter of Korea–India friendship. We welcome everyone to join us, enjoy the performances, and become a part of this historic milestone in our shared cultural story.”

This celebratory concert is free for all attendees aged 9 and above, reflecting the Association’s commitment to inclusivity and public engagement. Guests will be treated to enchanting violin and vocal renditions, as well as expressive dance acts, showcasing the rich cultural heritage that has flourished over seven decades. Organizers hope the evening’s music and artistry will deepen appreciation for both Korean and Indian traditions, fostering even closer ties between the two nations.

The Korean story in India dates back to the early 1950s, when the first pioneers founded the Korean Association in New Delhi amidst post-war challenges. From this humble beginning, the community has grown tremendously—becoming one of South Asia’s most active, with contributions spanning business, academia, art, and civic service. Today, the Korean population in India numbers in the thousands, supported by growing corporate investments and cultural institutions like the Korean Cultural Centre India and vibrant events such as the All India K-Pop Contest and Rang De Korea festival.

Throughout the decades, the Korean community’s initiatives have played a key role in shaping the country’s economic and social landscape. From early involvement in India’s industrial growth—with companies like Hyundai, LG, and Samsung transforming urban centers—to charitable and educational outreach in cities like Chennai and Delhi, Korean residents have forged enduring bonds. Cultural projects, language exchanges, and annual celebrations like this concert have helped bridge traditions and promote mutual understanding, reflecting a partnership built on respect and shared aspirations.

As the curtain rises on this milestone event, it stands not only as a tribute to a remarkable journey but also as an invitation to the broader public to join in the music, warmth, and celebration of unity.

The Korean Community 70th Anniversary Year-End Concert reaffirms the community’s place in India’s multicultural mosaic and looks ahead with hope to future decades of friendship, creativity, and community service. Attendees are cordially invited to witness musical mastery and contribute to the collective memories of this extraordinary evening.
