Sung-Chang Hong, MD, NongHyup Bank [농협은행] joins ACN Editorial Advisory Board – an Asian Think Tank

An advocacy arm of the Asian Community News (ACN) Network, the ACN Editorial Advisory Board, brings experts from various East Asian countries together on a common platform for strengthening the Indo-Asian relationship and bilateral ties.

NEW DELHI. Sung-Chang Hong, the Managing Director of a Korean bank NongHyup Bank [농협은행], and it’s New Delhi Representative has joined ACN Editorial Advisory Board – a Think Tank comprising industry leaders, management gurus, academicians, and intellectuals from South Korea, Japan, and India.

Hong comes with about 21 years of experience in the banking sector. He has been with NongHyup Bank, also known as NH Bank, Korea’s prestigious bank, since 2012.

He has also been active in promoting Korean community activities in India and was associated with the Korean Association, New Delhi as an Executive Auditor in an honorary position from January 2019 to December 2020. Korean Association is a community organization representing about 15,000 Korean nationals staying in India.

Mr. Hong joined the NongHyup Bank headquarters in Seoul, South Korea, in the year 2012, when the bank was launched from the NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL COOPERATE FEDERATION (NACF) as per the provisions of the amended Agricultural Cooperative Act in Seoul.

Indian headquarters of the NH Bank is located in Gurugram (the erstwhile Gurgaon), which is all set to launch its first branch in India very soon. The bank has been very actively discharging its corporate social responsibilities (CSR) in India since its inception. It has supported a couple of schools in Noida, Uttar Pradesh by way of improving their infrastructure and distributing study material to the students.  

Mr. Hong owns the distinction of working as Senior Deputy General Manager at the Cheong Wa Dae Branch (2016 – 2018) and managed this branch in the Korean presidential residence.

In the capacity of Manager, Human Resources Development Department (2012 – 2015), he planned and developed training programs, including some outsourcing, and guided employees into the appropriate program. He also developed global business competitive training programs for the NH Bank overseas business.

He had joined NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL COOPERATE FEDERATION (NACF), the largest organization other than the Korean government covering the diverse businesses of banking, insurance, distribution and

Marketing in 2000 and worked here till 2012. He also went abroad for higher studies, which NACF and NH Bank sponsored in August 2010 for two years.

Before this, Mr. Hong –a postgraduate in Professional Studies from Denver University, Denver, Colorado, the USA, with a major in Strategic Human Resources Management and Development, was deeply involved in Education & Training and researched and analyzed corporate culture to create a culture of success. He also managed 18,000 trainees while practicing 100 Distance Learning Courses.

Hong did his Master of Business Administration with emphasis on Personnel and Organizational Behavior from Korea University, Seoul, Korea, before going to Denver.

He graduated from Korea University only and did Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in Forestry Resources.

In various positions during the early years of his professional journey, Mr. Hong assisted employees to increase deposit volume and drove the achievement of revenue goals. He was also bestowed with the responsibility of comprehensively training new employees from a recently acquired company and consulted with private and corporate clients, providing financial advice on bank products.
