KOCCA’s Mumbai BizCon Opens New B2B Window for Korea–India AVGC Industry
K-Content pitching and export meetings generate $11,410,450 million in consultation value; Indian OTT, animation, IP and production players show strong appetite for Korean content partnerships
Mumbai: Korea’s fast-expanding K-Content industry has found a strong business response in India’s AVGC market, with the recently held KOR-IND K-Content BizCon 2026 recording 94 business matchings, five MOUs and $11,410,450 million in consultation value, signalling a deeper phase of Korea–India collaboration in animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, OTT, IP licensing and immersive media.
The business outcome of the two-day platform has strengthened expectations that Korean content companies and Indian media, entertainment and AVGC players can move beyond cultural popularity to structured commercial partnerships. The event was organised by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) India Business Center at Novotel Mumbai International Airport on May 5–6, with the objective of supporting the entry of K-Content into India and expanding bilateral cultural and business exchanges.
The response from India’s content ecosystem was significant. KOCCA India invited 60 Indian AVGC organisations and companies, of which 46 participated. The format combined IP pitching sessions, one-on-one export consultations and networking receptions, creating a focused B2B platform for Korean and Indian companies to discuss distribution, licensing, technology and co-operation opportunities.
Major Indian players that participated included JioStar, Alliance Media & Entertainment, Star Entertainment, Broadvision, SONY Yay and Shemaroo Entertainment, reflecting strong interest from OTT, broadcasting, children’s entertainment, IP and distribution segments. JioStar’s presence was especially notable as the press release described it among India’s major players, including the country’s largest OTT channel.
The event’s business pitch was led by Korean companies seeking Indian partners for content distribution, licensing and technical collaboration. Four representative companies — Atoonz, Aurora World, Live K and SLL — presented their flagship content during the IP pitching sessions. In addition, Funny Flux, Studio Meta-K and The Pinkfong Company participated in one-on-one export consultations to explore collaborative opportunities with Indian counterparts.
The Indian industry’s response also indicated where future Korea–India AVGC collaboration may grow fastest. Local production houses showed interest in Studio Meta-K’s AI-driven video content production techniques, a sign that India’s content companies are actively looking at technology-led production efficiencies. Live K also attracted attention for its high-quality immersive content, including Seoul Light Gwanghwamun, which uses cultural heritage as a backdrop.
Korean animation and children’s IP also emerged as a major attraction. Indian broadcasting distributors, production houses, OTT kids’ channels and IP companies showed strong demand for completed series, format rights, distribution and licensing of globally recognised properties such as Baby Shark, Hello Jadoo, YooHoo & Friends and Super Wings.
A networking reception on May 5 brought together 40 Korean and Indian AVGC companies. Dong Wan Yoo, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Mumbai, delivered congratulatory remarks and emphasised the importance of reciprocal cooperation with K-Content companies for Indian firms seeking to enter the global market. Representing India, author and influencer Rashmi Bansal expressed satisfaction at the opportunity to expand exchanges between two major AVGC players.
KOCCA India also used the platform to distribute brochures and directory books to help Indian participants better understand the K-Content business landscape. A demand survey conducted during the event further raised expectations for more B2B exchange programmes within the year.
The larger strategic significance of the BizCon lies in its timing. KOCCA India is preparing a follow-up platform, KOR-IND K-Content BizWeek 2026, in the second half of the year. According to the press release, the upcoming event is expected to invite 20 representative Korean content companies and build a more sustainable business exchange ecosystem with Indian partners.
In Nam Park, Head of the Content Export Division at KOCCA, described the Mumbai event as the “starting signal” for reciprocal business in the content industry between the two countries. He said the upcoming BizWeek would serve as a follow-up to the “Cooperation in Creative Cultural Industries” agreement reached during the Korea–India Summit, adding that KOCCA would continue to lead efforts for sustained communication and exchange with Indian partners.
KOCCA India’s own presence in the country has been steadily expanding. Established in December 2024 and officially opened in Gurugram, Haryana, in May 2025, the India Business Center has been engaging with Indian governments, associations and companies connected with the AVGC industry through platforms such as India Joy and the International Film Festival of India.
With India’s entertainment market scaling rapidly across OTT, animation, gaming and regional content, and Korea looking to deepen the commercial footprint of K-Content beyond cultural fandom, the Mumbai BizCon has positioned itself as more than a promotional event. It has opened a measurable B2B corridor between two content economies that are now looking at IP, AI production, immersive content and licensing as the next big areas of Korea–India creative industry cooperation.
