India–Japan Education Partnership Gains Momentum with Kake–JECI Collaboration

New Delhi: India–Japan educational cooperation received a fresh boost as Kake Educational Institution Group, one of Japan’s leading educational organizations, hosted an international education conference bringing together academic leaders and institutions from across Asia to explore new avenues for collaboration.

The conference brought together representatives from India, Vietnam, China, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal, reflecting Kake’s efforts to develop a stronger international academic network. The programme featured campus visits, academic presentations, networking sessions with university leaders and interactions with overseas educational institutions.

Representing India at the conference was the Japan Education Center And Information Foundation (JECI), the official Satellite Office of the Kake Educational Institution Group in India. JECI was accompanied by Braintree International School from Assam and Chitturi Vidyalayam from Andhra Pradesh, two K-12 institutions that have emerged as pioneers in introducing Japanese language education at the school level.

The two schools have established the JECI JHUB Excellence Skill Center for K-12 Schools, becoming the first two schools in India to introduce the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N5 from Grade 5. The initiative aims to provide students with early exposure to Japanese language and culture while preparing them for future international academic and career opportunities.

Recognising JECI’s efforts to promote Japanese language education within India’s school education system, Kake Educational Institution fully sponsored the participation of Braintree International School and Chitturi Vidyalayam at the conference in Japan.

During the programme, the Indian delegates explored Kake’s educational ecosystem through visits to Okayama University of Science and Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts. They attended academic presentations, toured advanced research facilities, interacted with faculty members and engaged with corporate representatives to understand Japan’s approach to education, research, innovation and industry collaboration.

A key outcome of the conference was Kake Educational Institution’s decision to move forward with Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Braintree International School and Chitturi Vidyalayam. The proposed partnerships are expected to provide students with continued academic guidance and support, particularly for those aspiring to pursue higher education and other opportunities in Japan.

The collaboration is also expected to strengthen the educational pathway between India and Japan, connecting school-level Japanese language education with higher education, research, skill development and future career opportunities.

With institutions such as Okayama University of Science within its educational network, Kake Educational Institution Group continues to promote international academic cooperation and global learning opportunities.

For JECI, the collaboration represents a broader vision of creating sustainable opportunities for Indian students to engage with Japan from an early stage of their education.

The India–Japan partnership goes beyond language learning, with the institutions aiming to develop globally competent students, encourage cross-cultural understanding and strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The latest initiative marks another step towards building an education ecosystem where students can begin their international journey at school and gradually progress towards higher education, research and careers in Japan.
