I have a strong belief, rather a conviction, which is grown out of my long and personal experiences in meeting the challenges of our day-to-day life. Our entire education system revolves around two subjects. I believe these two subjects are the foundation on which knowledge develops. Those who master them at a young age never fail or regret them in their lives since as a child, they have inculcated the basic tools and acquired skills for healthy and stupendous growth later in their lives.

It is not to deny that while all subjects are important, the English language and mathematics hold a predominant place in the entire knowledge system.  English is the language of communication in most parts of our world and mathematics of unimaginable calculations.  If a child has command over the language, it makes his understanding of all subjects easy because he has conquered one of the major impediments in the pursuit of knowledge.

Admittedly, English is the major source of communication as far as our part of the world is concerned. If one lacks in the power of expression, one can hardly convey or explain what he is capable of or desires to convey.

As per the findings of WORLD POPULATION REVIEW, the English language is the preeminent language of business, diplomacy, and international communication around the world. It is one of six official languages used by the United Nations and is used by organizations including the International Olympic Committee, the European Free Trade Association, and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. It is the most widely taught foreign language around the world and the most-used language in scientific studies, with roughly 50% of English-language science writing created by researchers whose native language is something other than English.

Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Korea at Chandigarh S. Jagdip Singh

It says that Asia has few native English speakers, with most speaking English as a foreign or second language. This continent has about 460 million people who can speak English. India leads as the country with a high number of people who can speak English at 265 million. Pakistan has 25 million, Bangladesh 29 million and the Philippines has 50 million.

The number of people speaking English in East Asian countries like Japan, and Korea is not so great because of the obvious reasons.

Similarly, if one is good at doing mathematics and has assimilated its fundamentals, it is going to be a great asset for his or her understanding of other subjects like science, economics, commerce, computer science, engineering, technology, business studies etc. which essentially are the outgrowths of mathematics.  Thus, one needs to give a greater emphasis on these two subjects to become a master of all and to be successful in this highly competitive world.
