Coming up: Int’l Conference on Economic and Trade & Technology Cooperation among MSMEs of India & South Korea on Feb 27-28

NEW DELHI: In its bid to provide an opportunity for Korean and Indian MSMEs to expand cooperation and revitalize economic exchange, the Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) in association with   Korean Small & Medium Enterprises Association (KOSMA), is organizing the focused “International Conference on Economic and Trade & Technology Cooperation among MSMEs of India & South Korea” February 27-28 in New Delhi.

Being organized under the aegis of Ministry of MSME, the 2-day conference promises a dynamic blend of high-level talks, interactive panel discussions, pre-arranged B2B meetings, and networking opportunities. It provides an opportunity for Korean and Indian MSMEs to expand cooperation and revitalize economic exchange.

“Republic of Korea has emerged not only as a critical source of technology but also as conduit to joining Global Value Chains (GVCs) for Indian companies. We foresee a greater role the Korean SME sector playing in strengthen the manufacturing sector capabilities of Indian SMEs thereby successfully driving India towards ‘Make in India’ initiative. This conference promises to provide a platform to both sides to explore new possibilities of collaborations and hand holding opportunities,” said Anil Bhardwaj, Secretary General, FISME.    

The 2-day conference is likely to be attended by the senior officials from Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the economic wing of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in India, from Invest India, and secretary level official from the MSME ministry besides KOSMA and FISME.

Representing around 740 SME associations spread across the country, FISME focuses primarily on trade and market access issues and reforms with the twin objective of establishing entrepreneurial and competitive environment at home and greater market access for Indian SMEs in India and abroad.

With over 100 member companies spanning various industries, KOSMA is led by Seong-Heum Park, the Managing Director of Focustek Manufacturing Service – a successful Korean company, which is leading service provider in Electronic PCB Assembly. Focustek is engaged in SMT Production & MI Production technology products at its Manesar-based ultra-modern plant. It is also into automotive electronics parts assembly manufacturing and DC Motor parts assembly manufacturing as well as electrical vehicles (EV) motor control assembly. Recently Seong-Heum Park was re-elected as the Chairman of KOSAM for the second term in the row.

The involvement of KOSAM in this conference underscores the importance of South Korean SMEs in India’s economic landscape and highlights the potential for further collaboration between the two nations.

In a significant move aimed at fostering collaboration and enhancing the capabilities of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the KOSMA entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Centre of Excellence for Aspiring SMEs (COE), a Joint Initiative of the Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) and IFCI Limited.
