“To be commissioned in April next year in Gurugram near New Delhi, the  DCCA Hospital will be a 24by7 top-of-the-line pet care facility. Not only we will have a full-time veterinary doctor from Japan as an advisor with us, we also have engaged the veteran vet Dr. Vinod Sharma whose expertise has been fine-tuned at our Japan-based facility,” Ohhun Kwon, Director, Pec Apac India Pvt Ltd which is setting up the animal hospital, told Asian Community News (ACN) Network.

Pec Apac India – is a fully owned Indian subsidiary of Peco Corporation, Japan, which is into pet media,  food, insurance, and animal hospital business in Japan.

The hospital will have pet and owner consultation, diagnosis, cardiology, oncology, ophthalmology and dentistry facilities as well as operation theatre for surgeries.

“Besides Japanese medical equipment and infrastructure, we will have a very considerate and compassionate staff in the hospital. Our staff will follow the Japanese style of vet care practiced in Japan,” said Ohhun Kwon, a 28-year Japanese national with roots in South Korea. Ohhun was born in Japan, but his parents originally belong to South Korea.

Ohhun said that for the pets boarding facility, the company would have a tie-up with Top Dog Luxury Pet Resort flanking the DCC Animal Hospital.

Dr. Sharma who has been appointed as Head of Hospitals Division in India is credited with the honor of setting up India’s first blood bank for the vets and his name figured in the Limca Book of Records for this achievement.

“I have been to Japan at the company’s facility twice to experience the Japanese way of treating pets there. I find a huge difference in the way the veterinary science treats pets in India and Japan. The vets in Japan establish close contact with the pets and their owners to know more about the medical health condition of the pets,” Dr. Sharma said.

The Japanese company has plans to set up more animal hospitals across India and expand its footprint even in other Asian countries as well.

“We have plans to expand our operations and set up vet hospitals pan India as well as other Asian countries and create an effective network of veterinary care experts so that they can share their expertise and improve the standard of pet care in Asia,” said Ohhun Kwon.

According to Kwon, it is for the first time that the major company Peco Corporation has expanded its operations out of Japanese soil. It has set up an office in Singapore to look after Asia operations and Kwon is the chief operating officer (COO) of this company.
