Four Japanese companies to display select “Made in Japan for India” products at AAHAR 2024

Singapore/Mumbai/Kobe: Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador Harry Hakuei Kosato accelerates the introduction and promotion of selected best “Made in Japan for India” products at AAHAR – India’s largest food & hospitality sector trade show organized by the Government of India in March 2024. The products being introduced are from 4 companies in Japan namely Ishimaru Sanuki Noodles, Karakida Shinshu Soba Noodles, Fuji Bussan Fuji Kabayaki Grilled Eel, and Kunitaro Japanese Green Tea Blended with Matcha.

These products are being exported from Japan to India in collaboration with 4 different entities – La Ditta Singapore Pte Ltd in Singapore, Heart-en International Limited in Japan and Sushi and More Pvt. Ltd and Hybrid Designs India Private Limited in India.

Members of the Japanese exporting companies met with India’s Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George at the Embassy of India in Tokyo, Japan, and all promised a long-term commitment to further India-Japan relations through the import, manufacture and marketing of premium Japanese ingredients.

The products being launched will be introduced and used by Pan Asian and Japanese restaurants in India and be sold on e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart as well.

“The idea is to popularize Japanese ingredients in India and showcase their versatility. We are also going to educate consumers about the pairing possibilities of these products with other popular products in India – for example the most amazing Kikkoman Soy Sauce which is used across all premium Asian restaurants goes very well with the Udon & Ramen Noodles when served as a stir-fry or broth, or one can do a Soba Salad using Karakida Soba noodles and Kikkoman Soy Sauce!” commented Harry Hakuei Kosato.

As part of this initiative, in November 2023, Kana Yamaguchi Miss World Japan 2022 traveled across India with Kosato to collaborate and promote Ishimaru Sanuki Udon and Ramen noodles for the first time ever. The noodles were showcased in 4 key cities at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in  Bangalore, the official residence of the Consul General of Japan in Chennai, Manami restaurant in Delhi and at the Upper Crust Show in Mumbai. She also met Ambassador of Japan to New Delhi, India, His Excellency Hiroshi Suzuki and Consul General of Japan, Chennai Masayuki Taga during her visit.

Furthermore, at The Japanese Emperor’s Birthday Celebration events held at the Embassy of Japan, New Delhi and at the Consulate General of Japan, Kolkata in February 2024, products from companies like Ishimaru and Kikkoman India were also on display. This was due to Ambassador Suzuki’s and Consul General Nakagawa’s efforts as part of the Japanese government push to support Japanese companies in India.

“I am pleased to be introducing more Japanese ingredients for export from Japan to India which are premium, pure and natural. We started this “Made in Japan for India” initiative last year, but soon, we are planning our “Made in Japan for the World” initiative, where we plan to ship our existing range of Japanese products to other markets other than India, to export destination markets including Australia, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, and Europe. Our initative is unique because it is completely funded by the participating SMEs and collaborators who have come together to run all product development, marketing, and logistical efforts. Our goal is to promote all these Japanese products at Anuga, the world’s largest and most important food and beverage fair in October 2025. We wish to expand to at least 100 products from Japan and export to at least 100 countries.” concluded Harry Hakuei Kosato.
