Hindi language to act as a bridge between India and Korea: Education Minister, India

New Delhi. While inviting Korean students to India under the ‘Study in India’ initiative, Indian Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that the Hindi language would act as a bridge between India and South Korea.

Dr. Pokhriyal said this while addressing a virtual Symposium titled कोरिया में हिंदी: दशा एवं दिशाorganized by Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Seoul in association with Center for Critical Foreign Language Education at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), on Seoul on January 6, the Vishwa Hindi Divas (World Hindi Day).

“Indian would be inviting top 100 universities of the world under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and Our top universities would also visit other countries, and Korea and India together can work on this direction, and the Hindi language can prove to be a milestone. At present thousands of students from India go to Korea and many from India go to Korea,” said the education minister.

Dr. Pokhriyal said that under the ‘Study in India’ initiative, more than 50,000 students from across the world have registered in India. Also, about one thousand students from ASEAN also have joined IITs for advanced studies.

“We also have added ‘History in India initiative. We invite Korean students also to come and join studies in India under these initiatives,” he added.

The Indian education minister was all praise for the Government of Republic of Korea led by President Moon Jay-in for identifying the Hindi language as part of the 12 critical foreign languages in 2016.

He said that India too included the Korean language in the list of foreign languages in NEP 2020.
