NEW DELHI: The annual mega Korean show K-POP Contest 2020 returns with a bang in India despite the entire country faces a lockdown situation due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

In a first, the organizers Korean Cultural Centre India (KCCI) has not only decided to hold regional rounds online, but it also has allowed the participants to submit solo entries for singing and dancing categories separately for the K-POP Contest 2020.

According to Kim Kum Pyoung, Director, KCCI, “In consideration of the current situation with COVID-19, the centre has decided to organize the regional round of K-POP Contest 2020 online and allow solo entries only to assure the safety of participants.”

The annual competition of K-POP online round for both the singing and dancing category will start from May 15, 2020, and close its online round application by June 15, 2020. Participants have been asked to upload their performance videos on youtube and register on the website www.kpopindia.com

Online is the latest mantra these days as the Indian government has restricted the physical movement of the people for non-essential tasks and shut down educational training and coaching centers to ensure social distancing.

Online Taekwondo training underway on video conferencing app ZOOM at KCCI.

Therefore, KCCI too has decided to adhere to the government directives and support the Indian government in its fight to check the spread of Coronavirus.

The Korean language classes KCCI has started in partnership with ASN Senior Secondary School and Greenway Modern School from April 27, are being held online using online video conferencing app Zoom.

Korean Cultural Centre has initiated the Korean language course in schools to promote the language for the CBSE curriculum, and 87 students of these two schools will have this class as a regular class from this year. Korean language classes were included in their online class schedule.

These classes were started on April 18 online at the King Sejong Institute New Delhi to ensure social distancing in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

On April 18, King Sejong Institute New Delhi resumed its Korean language class through ZOOM with a total of 259 students and nine teachers for 12 different levels. The intensive 5-hour class is full of various online learning materials, such as E-book, workbooks, audio files, and additional materials prepared by teachers.

The training of Taekwondo is also being imparted through an online platform at the KCC Taekwondo Academy every day from 6 to 7 in the evening with 40 students and a demonstration team. The class which includes physical training and Poomsae (defined pattern of defense-and-attack forms) training helps students to be fit physically and mentally.
