Real-life Korean businessman bags role in Amazon Web Series “Call Me Bae”

NEW DELHI: The forthcoming Amazon-special web series “Call Me Bae” must be in the news for Bollywood actress Ananya Pandey making her OTT debut in which she will be seen playing the character of a billionaire fashionista. But what is not known in the public domain is that the movie has one real-life successful Korean Businessman playing the role of a wealthy, confident Korean businessman and CEO. It’s a debut film for this Korean businessman also.

Kim Jin Bum, a next-gen entrepreneur who runs a large chain of Korean restaurants “Gung The Palace” in India, will be seen in the “Call Me Bae” with Bollywood actor and heroin of the movie Ananya Pandey, Vihaan Samat, Varun Sood, Gurfateh Pirzada, Vir Das, Mini Mathur, and Sayani Gupta.

The movie is likely to be on the Amazon Prime OTT platform for public viewing by the end of this year if all goes well as per the planned and ongoing movie shoots in Mumbai. Kim Jin Bum plays the role of Kim Ji Woo, a 40-year wealthy, confident Korean businessman and CEO with an attractive appearance. In this movie he is seen as a highly respected and motivated hotelier from Korean and business partner with Vihaan Samat who plays the role of the husband of Ananya Pandey.

In his real life, Kim Jin Bum is the president of the Korean Youth Commerce Association in India, a trade body representing Korean young self-employed, micro-entrepreneurs, and start-ups in New Delhi and NCR towns, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and other cities of India. Recently he was on the sets of “Call me Bae” in Mumbai along with other star cast and crew.

While talking exclusively to Asian Community News (ACN) Network, Jin-bum who has been staying in India for the past 18 years and also studied at Delhi University’s Ramjas College in New Delhi, says, “In the movie, I play the role of a Korean businessman who is the partner with Ananya Pandey’s husband Vihaan Samat – a filthy rich businessman from a royal family. The Ananya-Vihaan marriage was an arranged one but Ananya was in love with Varun Sood before this wedding.”

According to sources as per the script of the movie the life of the heroin Ananya is marred with many ups and downs. The real twist in the story comes when Ananya gets drunk at a party in which her husband Vihaan Samat and his business partner Kim Jin Bum are also present. It so happens that when Vihaan takes Jin Bum to round the hotel which they are planning to buy, the duo encounters a very uncomfortable situation. They happen to spot Ananya kissing his ex-boyfriend Varun Sood in the gym of the hotel when Vihaan is taking Jin Bum on a round. The relations between Ananya and Vihaan apparently get estranged, and they divorce. And here is when the heroine of the movie Ananya starts her life afresh and from the scratch, and then starts the real struggle in her life.

Ananya Pandey’s last movie was “Liger,” which was a mix-bag. She will also be seen in the upcoming movie Dream Girl 2 also opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. The noted Bollywood director, actor and producer Karan Johar is said to be taking responsibility for Ananya Pandey’s OTT debut.

A Dharmatic Entertainment production, with Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra serving as Executive Producers, Call Me Bae is being directed by Collin D’Cunha. Created by Ishita Moitra who has also co-written the series with Samina Motlekar and Rohit Nair, Call Me Bae will be available to Prime members in over 240 countries and territories upon its release.

In a fun video on Amazon Prime Video, Varun Dhawan introduced Ananya Panday as Bae in the forthcoming Amazon Original scripted series Call Me Bae.
