Takeshi Seo of ITOCHU India is New President of JCCII
The new office-bearers’ team of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India brought together senior representatives from leading Japanese companies across automobiles, finance, trading, steel, logistics, aviation, electronics and infrastructure.
New Delhi: Takeshi Seo of ITOCHU India Pvt. Ltd. has assumed charge as the President of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII) for the fiscal year 2026, leading a new team of office bearers representing some of the most prominent Japanese companies and institutions operating in India.
Currently serving as Chief Officer for South West Asia; Chairman & Managing Director, ITOCHU India Pvt. Ltd, Takeshi Seo succeeds Setsuya Yoshino, Mitsubishi Corporation India, for the top position of JCCII.
He leads JCCII with a strong membership of 680 companies, up from 450 in 2020. Over the past year, JCCI has added 120 new members, clearly demonstrating the strong expectations Japanese companies have for India.
The 2026 office-bearers’ list of JCCII reflects the wide sectoral spread of Japanese business presence in India, with leadership roles assigned to representatives from trading houses, automobile companies, banks, steel, aviation, electronics, logistics, consulting, manufacturing and government-linked institutions.

Seo’s appointment as JCCII President comes at a time when India-Japan economic relations are expanding across manufacturing, infrastructure, mobility, green energy, digital technology, financial services and supply chain partnerships. ITOCHU India, which he represents, is among the major Japanese trading companies with a long-standing presence in India.
The new leadership team includes Takashi Nakajima of Honda Cars India Ltd. as Vice President and Head of the Transport Equipment Subcommittee. Takuya Senoo of MUFG Bank Ltd. has taken over as Vice President and Head of the Finance Subcommittee. Hiroshi Ebina of Nippon Steel India Pvt. Ltd. has also been named Vice President.
Munehiko Sayama of Sojitz India Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed Vice President and Chairman of the Business Environment Improvement Committee, a key role given JCCII’s regular engagement on policy, regulatory, and investment-climate issues affecting Japanese companies in India.
Takahiro Tokuda of Mitsubishi Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed General Secretary, while Masaaki Kaneko of Mizuho Bank Ltd. has taken charge as Treasurer.
The board also includes several directors representing major Japanese and Japan-linked corporations. Kazuhiko Nishijima of All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd., Toshiaki Nomura of Canon India Pvt. Ltd., Shogo Ando of Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd., Tsunenobu Hori of Denso International India Pvt. Ltd., Yushi Akiyama of Hitachi India Pvt. Ltd., Akihito Takei of Japan Airlines Co., Ltd., Hisashi Takeuchi of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Rei Kimura of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries India Pvt. Ltd., Koichi Wakabayashi of Mitsui & Co. India Pvt. Ltd., Ichiro Kurihara of NEC Corporation India Pvt. Ltd., Tokuhisa Murakawa of NTT India Private Limited, Takahiro Jitousho of Sumitomo Corporation India Pvt. The 2026 team also gives importance to specialised committees and sectoral responsibilities. Taisuke Soratani of KPMG India Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed Director and Tax Committee Leader. Toru Endo of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation has taken charge as Director and Secretary General of the Semiconductor Committee, reflecting the growing importance of semiconductors in India-Japan industrial cooperation.
Takashi Suzuki of the Japan External Trade Organization has been named Director and Secretary General of the Business Environment Improvement Committee. Susumu Wakamori of Marubeni India Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed Director and Head of the Trade Subcommittee.
Logistics and regional industrial clusters have also been represented in the office-bearers’ team. Teruaki Nagoya of Nippon Express (India) Pvt. Ltd. has been given the responsibility as Director in charge of the Logistics Subcommittee. Hidenao Kitajima of Mikuni India Pvt. Ltd. has been named Director in charge of the Neemrana President’s Council, while Naoki Hiragushi of Toyota Boshoku Device India Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed Director and Vice Chairman of the Bawal President’s Council.
Yoshiyuki Morii of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation has been appointed Director and Head of the Finance Subcommittee, while Masahiro Nishizawa of Toray Industries (India) Pvt. Ltd. has been given charge of the Materials and Chemical Industry-related Subcommittee.
The composition of the new JCCII office-bearers’ team underlines the deep and diversified presence of Japanese enterprises in India. From automobiles and auto components to banking, steel, aviation, electronics, logistics, information technology, chemicals and consulting, Japanese companies continue to play an important role in India’s industrial and investment landscape.
JCCII has long served as an important platform for Japanese businesses in India, helping member companies engage with policy issues, business environment concerns, sectoral developments and India-Japan economic cooperation. The 2026 leadership structure is expected to continue this role at a time when Japanese companies are looking at India with renewed interest as a manufacturing, consumer, technology and supply chain destination.
With Takeshi Seo taking over as President, the new JCCII team is expected to focus on strengthening member engagement, improving the business environment for Japanese companies, supporting sectoral dialogue and contributing to the broader India-Japan economic partnership.
