WiFi, wellness lighting, fuel-efficient flight onboard Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

NEW DELHI. Besides being India’s first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, the wide-body and long-haul aircraft just acquired by Vistara has some exciting features to offer to its passengers including first-ever WiFi service, special wellness lighting to reduce jet-lag, 12-inch screens in economy class, 6-way headrests and advanced air purification system.

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner can also fly 14,100 km in a stretch farther than its 787-8 variant, and also can carry 299 passengers.

Delivered on February 29 in Delhi on February 29 from Boeing’s production facility in Everett, Washington, the Dreamliner is first of the 6-plane order Vistara has placed on Boeing, and the former is set to receive its second plane too soon.

Air India also has Dreamliners but these are old version aircraft.

The global destinations Vistara might fly to in May include Japan and the UK.

The airline celebrated its latest and 40th aircraft in an impressive ceremony at the Delhi Airport with Manasi Scott as the Master of Ceremonies.

“This magnificent aircraft signals the advent of world-class air travel for millions of Indians. And it also tells the world that Vistara has arrived”, said Bhaskar Bhat, Chairman, Vistara.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is highly regarded for its distinctive features, such as an advanced air purification system, more headroom, greater space in overhead bins, larger windows that give an increased sense of space, turbulence-dampening technology, and lower cabin altitude – all designed by Boeing for travelers to arrive at their destination feeling fresh. Vistara will be the first Indian carrier to offer inflight connectivity to its passengers.

Business Class

30 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, upholstered in premium genuine leather that recline into fully-flat beds and offer direct aisle access to every passenger in the cabin.

Premium economy

The separate and private Premium Economy cabin has 21 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration, also upholstered in premium genuine leather. The seats have individually adjustable calf rests, extendable footrests, 7” reclining backrests, six-way adaptable headrests, a 13” HD touchscreen seatback screen and a Touchpad Handset Control to navigate the IFE system.

Economy

Economy Class has 248 seats in 3-3-3 alignment covered with high-quality breathable fabric, measured best for long-haul flights. A high literature pocket ensures greater legroom, meeting the comfort needs of any traveler on a long flight and posing the best value for money.

Elevated the bar

Vistara’s Dreamliners come with a special wellness lighting solution called Human Centric Lighting developed by JetLite and custom-made for Vistara to enhance passenger well-being. By regulating light colour and concentration throughout flights, it helps passengers to fine-tune their sleep timetables and reach well-rested and feeling less jet-lagged. Vistara is Asia’s first airline to offer cabin illumination of this kind.
