New Delhi, March 14, 2026: The 2026 First Quarter Regular Meeting of the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council (PUAC), South West Asia Chapter was held in New Delhi on Saturday evening, bringing together members from all five member nations of the chapter to review recent activities, discuss policy directions, and chart a broad roadmap for 2026 with a major focus on the 27th World Korea Forum scheduled to be held in New Delhi in August this year.

Held under the theme “Direction of Domestic and International Policy Promotion for Peaceful Coexistence on the Korean Peninsula,” this hybrid-mode meeting was presided over by Park Euy Don, President of the PUAC Southwest Asia Chapter, who outlined the organisation’s operational direction and major project execution plan for the coming year and called for active support from all members.

The meeting took on added significance as the South West Asia Chapter reviewed its ongoing initiatives, assessed the results and performance of the previous quarter, and shared long-term project plans for the coming year among members. Discussions also covered PUAC policies, newly issued guidelines, current developments, and ways to strengthen the chapter’s regional role in promoting dialogue and policy awareness on peace and coexistence on the Korean Peninsula.

According to chapter leaders, the PUAC Southwest Asia Chapter currently comprises 64 members across five countries — India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Nepal — making it an important regional platform for Korean diaspora engagement and policy outreach in South and Southwest Asia.

A major agenda item during the meeting was the preparation for the 27th World Korea Forum, which is expected to be one of the chapter’s most significant international events of the year. The forum, planned for August in New Delhi, is expected to bring together around 30 speakers from more than 10 countries to deliberate on issues concerning Korea, India, and the Global South, with a wider focus on peaceful coexistence, cooperation, and shared prosperity.

Members also used the occasion to discuss how the chapter could align its 2026 activities with the broader objectives of peaceful engagement and democratic consensus-building on the Korean Peninsula, while deepening regional participation and public outreach.

The meeting also marked an important organisational reshuffle and expansion of the chapter’s leadership structure. Mr Gyeong Gyu Yeong formally assumed the position of Vice President of the PUAC South West Asia Chapter, while Ms Suzy Choi was appointed to lead the Public Relations Affairs Committee, strengthening the chapter’s communication and outreach function.

In a notable development, Mr Sanjeev K. Ahuja, Chief Editor and CEO of ACN Network, was appointed Honorary Member of the PUAC South West Asia Chapter, becoming the first Indian ever inducted into the forum. His induction was seen by members as a symbolic and meaningful step in broadening the forum’s engagement with influential voices in India and deepening India–Korea people-to-people understanding.

President Park Euy Don, while addressing the gathering, is understood to have emphasised the need for close cooperation among members as the chapter enters a busy year of programmes and outreach. With the New Delhi forum emerging as the flagship event on the calendar, the leadership urged members from all five countries to contribute actively to programme development, participation, and coordination.

The discussions reflected the chapter’s growing ambition to position itself as a meaningful regional voice within PUAC’s wider overseas framework, especially at a time when the Korean Peninsula’s peace discourse continues to require sustained international understanding, policy engagement, and dialogue.

The Peaceful Unification Advisory Council is a constitutional institution of the Republic of Korea established under Article 92 of the Constitution to advise the President on the formulation of peaceful unification policy. The PUAC says the President of the Republic of Korea serves as its chairperson; official Korean government sources identify President Lee Jae Myung as the current President.

With preparations now underway for the World Korea Forum in New Delhi, the Southwest Asia Chapter’s first quarterly meeting set the tone for a year expected to combine policy consultation, organisational expansion, regional outreach, and a renewed emphasis on peace, coexistence, and Korea-related dialogue across the region.
