The opening ceremony was graced by the chief guest, Dr Kiran Walia, a senior politician, member of the Indian National Congress, former professor of Political Science at Delhi University, and former minister for Women and Child Development, Social Welfare, and Languages in the Sheila Dikshit government.

In her address, Dr Walia said that although she was not an artist, she very d well knew how to appreciate art as well as the artists. She said she was truly impressed by the artworks in this exhibition, and she had the utmost respect for the artists for pursuing their passion so fervently. And the passion was generally not gained but remained in the artists naturally, she added.

Among the distinguished special guests present were Major General Anukul Chandra (Retd.), eminent art director and art critic Qazi Raghib, and celebrated visual artist Ajay Samir.

While complimenting the organisers, artist & entrepreneur Smita Biswas and her brother Tushar, Major General Chandra said that he was a regular visitor to the duo’s art exhibitions and had seen them progress and improve every time.  “It was because of Smita Biswas and Tushar that he transformed from knowing the art of war to the art of brush, as I don’t have an art background,” he added.

One of the key highlights of the inaugural evening was a live Indian classical music performance by internationally known musicians Amir Khan on the Sarangi and Shabaz Khan on the Tabla. Amir Khan, who belongs to a family of legendary musicians of the Moradabad Gharana and represents the seventh generation of Sarangi players, added a rich musical dimension to the evening. An ‘A’ graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, he has performed widely at music festivals in India, the United States, Europe, Australia and Russia.

The exhibition featured a diverse roster of participating artists, including Shalini Sharma, Sunanda Mitra, Sohini Banerjee, Seema Bhargava, Tanuja Munakala, Naila Praveen, Asha Shetty, Drishyaa Duggal, Jyotsna Sharma, Rishita Kanchamreddy, Kanav Garg, Reshu Tyagi, Ragini Bhatia, Jay Gohil, Kalon Celeste, Abhirup Bhattacharjee, Sajal Srivastava, Avdhesh Kumar, Donindra Yengkhom, Shabnam Mehra, Surendra Kumar and Tanishq Pratap Singh.

The inaugural evening reflected the exhibition’s immersive and multi-layered character, with visitors spending time before the canvases and sculptures and engaging closely with the visual language of the works on display. The combination of contemporary surreal expression and live classical music appeared to resonate strongly with the audience, helping the exhibition attract a steady and appreciative turnout.
