K-Pop dance tips: Choi Yong-joon of JYP fame engaged as lead dance trainer in India
Korean Cultural center has launched K-POP Dance Academy to teach dance to Indian K-pop enthusiasts. Regional round is starting from Sep 23.
NEW DELHI: The Korean Cultural Centre in India (KCCI) has roped in Choi Yong-joon, the former head of JYP’s choreography team, as the lead dance trainer to teach dance on K-POP songs through online classes to Indian youth at its newly launched K-POP Dance Academy.
JYP Entertainment Corporation founded in 1997 by J. Y. Park is one of the largest entertainment companies in South Korea.
The online training sessions have been happening since September 14 and will continue till October 21, every Tuesday and Thursday. The trainers led by Choi Yong-joon go step by step into diverse choreographies such as ASAP by STAYC, Thrill Ride by THE BOYZ, and Dumb Dumb by Somi.
KCCI, the cultural promotion arm of the Republic of Korea government has been hosting a special event “K-POP Dance Academy” for all the dance and K-POP enthusiasts in India. K-POP Dance Academy organized training sessions on its youtube channel every Tuesday and Thursday from 14th to 21st September. The regional rounds are starting from September 23.
The first three sessions were taken by the dance trainers Sera Lee and Sojung Lee. Some of the trainers in the team have worked with BTS, Stray Kids, and GOT7, and others.
Choi Yong-joon, and his team have prepared a sequence, Indian youth have been learning the choreography of K-POP songs step by step.
The KCCI statement said that this announcement was regarding the Winners of the K-POP India Contest 2021 Online Round conducted by Korean Cultural Centre India earlier this year.
A team of special judges at the Korean Cultural Centre India has selected 10 to 15 participants per category from 20 cities.
“We request everyone to note, the participants are best from their region only. Korean Cultural Centre will not entertain any negative comments regarding the participants or the contest. Winners of the regional round will be contacted by the Organizers soon, we request all winners to reach out to us in case of any discrepancy,” said a statement by the KCCI, ” said the KCCI statement.
