Japan invites Indian Researchers to conduct scientific research, innovation
New Delhi, India – A high-level delegation from the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), comprising Takashi Konishi, Director, Sakura Science Program HQs and Yuji Nishikawa, Advisor, Sakura Science Program HQs, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), visited Amity University Noida Campus.
The visit aimed to discuss the potential areas of research collaboration between Amity and Japanese Universities.
Takashi Konishi, Director, Sakura Science Program HQs, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), stated, “Sakura Science Program (SSP) is conducted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
For SSP, Japan Science and Technology Agency works closely with the Department of Science & Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Education (MoE, Government of India. Under this program, the Government of Japan, through JST, has invited over 4,000 students and researchers to Japan since 2015.
JST has also organised a series of joint research programs with India in cooperation with DST, providing research funding to the awarded universities in both India and Japan. We would like to invite PG and PhD students from Amity University to conduct research at Japanese Universities, thereby enhancing mutual cooperation in the area of scientific research and innovation.”
Yuji Nishikawa, Advisor, Sakura Science Program HQs, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), said, “JST organized the 3rd Japan India Universities Forum (JIUF) in October, 2024 in New Delhi, wherein over 30 Universities of India and Japan participated, and the next edition of this Forum is scheduled in Oct 2025 in IIT Hyderabad.
In addition, a new program named LOTUS has been launched by JST, inviting 300 young researchers of India to Japanese universities and research Institutes for a maximum period of one year. Under this Program, we would like to invite the young researchers of Amity to Japanese Universities, for the development of new innovations and technologies.”
Presenting an Overview of the Amity Education Group, Dr. Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor, Amity Universities, said, “We would be glad to collaborate with Japanese Universities for Dual degrees, Joint Research, and Twinning programs. In addition, we would like to establish a joint campus and Centre of Excellence, in collaboration with Japanese Universities.
We also look forward to Amity researchers’ participation in JST’s LOTUS Program and Amity’s contribution at the 4th Japan-India Universities Forum, which will provide an excellent opportunity for our researchers to collaborate with the researchers of Japanese Universities.”
Also present on the occasion were the senior faculty, researchers and Scientists of Amity who suggested collaboration in their respective domains.
