An exceedingly pleasing “Ayubowan” is the greeting we hear, apparently, the staff have gripped the talent of merging modest balminess with impeccable service.

Taj Samudra is one of Colombo’s oldest indulgence hotels and has a charming setting right diagonally the Galle Face Green – Colombo’s most appreciated open-air comfort space and is a preferred with most Indians like myself. Fenced by chic Oriental ambiance this resto-bar is set in soft lighting and dark wood which makes it relaxed, refined and romantic.

The menu offers a plethora of extravagant and steady Japanese tapas-style creations.

Sushi is a highlight but there’s more to it than just that. The expedient menu is established on jet-fresh ingredients straight from Japan counting vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers, rolls, sashimi, and nigiri in its fairly elaborate menu!

Yumi at Taj Samudra, Colombo

You can end this gastronomic delight with a pick from the exotic dessert menu including the creamy Matcha ice cream or just fresh seasonal fruits. The chef’s clever and enjoyable creations are backed up by thorough preparations; every dish is one of a kind, something you won’t find in other restaurants in Colombo.

From the famed Volcano Sushi to his famous House Salads to California rolls and the signature Black pepper lamb, the entire meal is one surprise after another. Friendly waiters, a good beverage list, and impeccable service make dining here a total experience. Delicious food, set against the gorgeous ambience, with flavours that linger in your mouth – that’s the essence of the Yumi menu!
