Noida schools wish to teach Korean language to students as Korean bank NH NongHyup Bank (농협은행) vows to support them

NEW DELHI: Two of the schools in western Uttar Pradesh where South Korea’s well-known bank – NongHyup Bank India (also known as NH Bank) has been carrying out supporting activities under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative since 2019, have expressed their desire to teach Korean languages o their students to offer them additional skillsets and make them employable.

When the team of NH Bank led by its managing director Sung-chang Hong, reached Noida Faridpur Primary School with 215 students of the Grade-1st to 8^th, and NIV School with 185 students of Grade-Nursery to 6th on June 23 (Thursday) to gift the students reusable water bottle and snacks boxes, the teachers of these schools shared their feelings.

The bank gave away the students the reusable water bottles to inculcate the good habit of ‘Make India Clean’ (#makeIndiaclean) initiative of the Indian government.

“Because of continuous relationship with these schools, their interest in Korean culture has increased. During our visit to these schools on Thursday were amazed to know that the teachers wanted to implement Korean language education for their students. Now, the NH Nonghyup Bank can review support in conjunction with related institutions. During this visit, we handed out thermos bottles to all students and had time to think about the importance of a sustainable environment (ESG),” said Sung-chang Hong.

The New Delhi office of NH NongHyup Bank has been supporting these schools since 2017 and 2019.

“At the time of the severe COVID-19 pandemic, it was a pity that we had no choice but to deliver only health supplies such as masks. But only now that the Corona 19 situation has improved, we were able to visit again in person these schools again. Fortunately, we were able to forget our worries for a moment with the appearance of the students and teachers who welcomed us with a healthy and bright appearance and Korean greetings,” said the bank MD.

Hong said that however, the digital divide caused by poverty is real, such as not being able to take proper online classes in the COVID-19 pandemic with teachers delivering worksheets directly to students’ homes in person. Accordingly, we have felt the need to work in this direction also and promote joint CSR with Korean smartphone manufacturers and etc.
