Stage is set for the much-awaited Amity Gurugram Marathon (AGM) – an annual event spearheaded by Amity Education Group that is going to hit the roads on February 10 in Gurugram.
The 5th in edition, the event is slated to witness participation of over 20,000 runners from across 20 countries and will have Rs. 15 lakh as prize money for the participants.
However, the proceeds from the event will go to various NGOs for the welfare of the poor and under-privileged, said Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Gurpal Singh Bal, dean students welfare. He also happens to be the senior advisor to the founder president of Amity Education Group, director hotels, director YG MTC and director security.
“As usual, we are expecting huge footfall and participation of various cross sections of society including expats and corporate executives. The promotions for making the event aware had already begun about a month back. Promotional events are happening all over including Cyber Hub,” Maj. Gen. Bal said.
Some of the major events of the AGM include Full Marathon 42.2 KM (18 years of age and above), Half Marathon 21.1 KM (14 years of age and above), 10 KM Run (12 years of age and above), 5 KM Run (12 years of age and above), 5 KM – Kids Run (Age between 06 years to 12 years ) and Senior Citizen Run (Age 60 years & above ).
AGM is among the various sports Initiatives of the Amity Education Group.
Maj. Gen. Bal said that the marathon runs would take off from Leisure grounds sector 29 and participants would meander through the city to come back to the takeoff point.
Till 2017, AGM was a Half Marathon (AGHM) event but the enthusiasm & participation of professional runners from more than 20 countries led us to transit into a Full Marathon event along with other race categories.
As a mission statement, AGM encourages the importance of Running and also helps social organizations to take their cause to the masses for fund raising.
Amity Gurugram Marathon previous editions had witnessed huge participations from all age groups & are poised to be among top Marathon events of the country.
