Noida, India – A high-level delegation from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) visited the Amity University campus in Noida to explore avenues for recruiting skilled Indian students for Japan’s civil engineering and infrastructure sectors.

The visit on March 2 was aimed at helping students identify employment opportunities within Japanese construction and infrastructure companies and strengthening academic–industry linkages between India and Japan.

The delegation included Yoshihiro Tabata, Director for Overseas Strategies for the Construction Industry, International Markets Division, Real Estate and Construction Economy Bureau, MLIT; Kento Ito, Director for Overseas Business, International Markets Division, Real Estate and Construction Economy Bureau, MLIT; Maki Sato, Chief Official, International Markets Division, Real Estate and Construction Economy Bureau, MLIT; Shinsaku Tanaka, Manager, Public Services Division, PwC Consulting LLC; and Masato Wada, Senior Associate, Public Services Division, PwC Consulting LLC.

Welcoming the delegation, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor of Amity University Uttar Pradesh, highlighted the institution’s strong academic ties with Japan and its emphasis on preparing students for global careers. She said that Amity equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to adapt to diverse international work environments.

“Japan has been an important partner for us. Japanese language is taught as one of the foreign languages at Amity, and we have also established a Japanese Help Desk to guide students interested in opportunities related to Japan. Our students participate in the Sakura Science Program every year, visiting Japan to enhance their academic exposure,” she said.

Prof. Shukla further proposed the establishment of a Japanese Dashboard at Amity University to provide students with comprehensive information about employment opportunities with Japanese companies. She added that collaboration with MLIT would further strengthen academic and professional partnerships between India and Japan.

Prof. (Dr.) Devendra Pratap Singh, Dean, Faculty of Architecture Planning and Design, emphasised Japan’s global leadership in infrastructure development and urban planning. He noted that Japan is widely recognised for its excellence in resilient urban systems, advanced transport engineering, and high standards of technological precision and quality.

“Our objective is to build a structured academic–industry pathway that supports Japan’s civil and infrastructure sectors through skilled graduates. Students from engineering, architecture, planning, and infrastructure-related disciplines can become valuable contributors to MLIT-affiliated companies,” he said.

Highlighting the significance of the visit, Dr. Anjani Kumar Bhatnagar, Director of the Amity Technical Placement Centre, said that MLIT, as Japan’s largest ministry overseeing national infrastructure, transportation, and international technological cooperation, plays a crucial role in shaping global infrastructure development.
