Increasing number of people in China, especially youths are embracing meditation and yoga concept originating from Indian origin.

And Happy, Peace Homes and Spiritual Clinics being run by India-based Braham Kumaris (BK) Omshanti Retreat Centre (ORC) are the hotspots in Chinese towns like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and others.

Also an increasing number of Chinese nationals are make visits to Brahma Kumaris ORCs based in Gurugram and Mount Abu every year for spiritual enrichment.

Like the people of any other country, the people here too look for avenues to address their issues related to stress and spirituality.  In Chinese towns, the BK yoga and meditation sessions are offered in various formats such as Meditation and Stress Management Weekend Retreats for many.

BK Sister Sapna who is spearheading activities in China practiced spirituality for 15 years in India before moving to China in 2013 when she set up centers in Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Interestingly, the Beijing center is run by a Chinese sister who had once visited BK ORC in India and went back to set up center in Beijing.

“We plan to set up more centers in China as demand for the same is surging. People need love, peace and harmony. Our healing is spiritual and it is beyond any religion, and we are promoting it in a genuine way through consulting and counseling sessions,” said BK sister Sapna.

Sessions have also been held at the consulates of India, Shanghai and even in the Guangdong province of China.

“We had organized sessions for the employees of corporates such as Bank of China who attended Meditation and Stress Management Weekend Retreats in various cities of Guangdong province. Many Chinese nationals have turned complete vegetarian and follow spiritual lifestyle at our centers,” BK Sister Sapna said.

Sessions are also organized at places far away from urban stretches and in small towns such as Zhaoqing in Guangdong province and as far as in Haerbin located at Russian border where sessions are run by individual followers. At some places like Dalian and Dali in Hunan province small groups of students get together and form study groups.

While talking about the new trends, BK Sister Sapna said that many young people too had started coming to classes as they faced issues related to work pressure, families, relationships and others concerns at workplaces.

Sister said yoga was getting more popular in China as every second person wanted to learn it and its offered along with mediation for their healing.

Diamond Art Group formed in China is getting very popular there and is in great demand for its cultural exchange feature.

It was in the year 2014 when a strong contingent of 260 Chinese people had come to India for 15 days tour for spiritual gains.

“They stayed at Gurugram-based OTC for four days and also at the Mount Abu center for 10 days. One day was scheduled for site-seeing as they wanted to see many world class monuments like Taj Mahal, Delhi’s Red Fort, India Gate and Akshardhaam Temple. Since then, we have Chinese troupes coming to our centers in India every year. Next troupe is arriving in India in October this year again,” BK Sister Sapna said.

Chinese people want to come to India to practically experience the BK theories they get to know in their country. They find peace and harmony and overall spiritual improvement in their personality, and after they return to their country, they share their rich experiences with their folks about what they observed and absorbed in India.
