Eying Indian investment, South Korean Startups pitch Indian angel investors

NEW DELHI: The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME), an entity of the Ministry of SMEs and Startup of the South Korean government organized its first-ever international Demoday in India for Korean startups on Tuesday.

KOSME has an ambitious plan of bringing more than 50 Korean startups to India by the end of 2021.

Titled as “T-Hub’s Investor Demoday with South Korean startups”, the virtual event witnessed founders and CEOs of ten South Korean startup companies making presentations and interacting with India-based investors, venture capitalists, and angel investors.

The startup in the field of healthcare, edu-tech, agri-tech, air, and water cleaning technologies, beauty-tech,  and content management made their pitch to woo investment from Indian investors.

The initiative is the part of KOSME that has launched Startup Accelerator 2020. As part of the program, 10 shortlisted early-stage South Korean startups will benefit from new business opportunities, market understanding, access to customers, and a deeper understanding of the Indian market.

“Next year we plan to have five more Korean Demoday batches starting January as we expecting about 50 startups to bring to India. We will be directly connecting these startups with the investors,” said, Ashutosh Kumar of T-Hub, the implementing partner for KOSME in India.

With Ravi Narayan as its CEO, the -Hub enables and empowers an ecosystem hungry for innovation. Based in Hyderabad, India, it has provided over 1100 national and international startups with access to better technology, talent, mentors, customers, corporates, investors, and government agencies.

On October 13, the Korean startups that pitched investors included One beauty Korea (dental implants), A-virtual, Honour Farm, EYELIKETM, Let’sfarm, Braincolla, Coconut Silo, L’air Pur, TAGHIVE Inc., and Korean Aviation Lights.

A-virtual is the clean-air startup into air-purifying gadgets for households, offices, and cars, One beauty Korea is a healthcare startup, which manufactures metal used for dental restorations, such as inlays, artificial teeth, crowns, bridges, etc., processed by computer-aided dental design and manufacturing units (4,5-axis milling machines), and Honour Farm is a water cleaning and disinfectant startup that enables water quality control based on nano-bubbles.

The healthcare startup LabSD provides a comprehensive community eye health solution, EYELIKETM platform allows health professionals with minimum training to conduct screenings of international standard for the diagnosis of eye diseases, and Letsfarm is an agri-tech startup that offers Smart Edufarm in stackable versions, which will enable the user to have specially designed chambers for different types of plants or growth conditions.

Braincolla is the content management startup that uses an AI and blockchain-based content acceleration platform for content-related business apps, and the Coconut Silo is a  logistics startup that brings a freight transport brokerage platform that matches shippers and car owners who want to transport domestic cargo using the mobile app/web and international cargo across land borders.

L’air Pur, the healthcare startup brings integrated breathing masks, which are easier to use and more comfortable to wear.

Headed by an Indian CEO, the TAGHIVE Inc. is an Edutech startup is through Class Saathi— a combination of a low-cost classroom clicker and a mobile app that connects all the stakeholders— students, parents, teachers, and administrators. It offers a separate mobile app interface for each stakeholder.

Korea aviation lights, is an aviation Light startup manufacturing LED aviation obstruction light, explosion-proof LED aviation obstruction light, solar-powered LED aviation obstruction light, helipad lighting system, solar panel, etc, with the best technology.
