Hyderabad, India – Indian karate recorded a major milestone as Hanshi Shaswat Kumar, Founder of Senkoukai Karate, received multiple international recognitions for establishing and promoting an independent India-origin karate system. Shaswat Kumar, a 10th Dan Grand Master, has been credited with building Senkoukai Karate into a distinct identity within the global karate ecosystem.

Senkoukai Karate, founded by Hanshi Shaswat Kumar, is positioned as an India-origin karate style with its own independent syllabus and structure. The style is presented as combining practical combat techniques, modern training methodology, and traditional Budo discipline. Its approach, which blends classical martial philosophy with modern combat science, has contributed to growing international visibility for the system.

Hanshi Shaswat Kumar was conferred the World Karate Grand Legend Award and World Karate System Recognition through an ISO-certified international martial arts organization in Vietnam. These honours were issued by Prof. ISGM. Dinh Ngoc Huy, Ph.D, Black & Red Belt 10th Dan Grand Master (Vietnam).

He also received two honours from Indonesia — the World Martial Arts Legend Award and the World 100-Man Kumite Achievement Award. These were issued by Brahma Guru Henri Hendarto, Founding Father of SABUNG KENKI, Black Belt 10th Dan, who is described as one of Indonesia’s respected grand masters. The recognitions were stated to be for Senkoukai Karate’s global impact as an independent Indian karate system.

As per international martial arts records cited by the organisers, Hanshi Shaswat Kumar has been described as the first Indian Grand Master to receive such international recognition for founding and leading a world-level independent karate system. The development has been presented as significant for India’s position in global karate, not only as a practising country but also as a creator of an original system.

In another milestone, Senkoukai Karate’s katas received recognition from Japan. The International Bujutsu Karate Association (IBKA), Headquarters Japan, officially granted recognition to 20 katas of Senkoukai Karate. The recognition was issued on 30 October 2025 through an official Certificate of Recognition.

The certificate was awarded by Grandmaster Masaki Watanabe (Black Belt 10th Dan), Founder of the International Bujutsu Karate Association, Japan. The IBKA document acknowledged the recognized Senkoukai Karate katas — covering both Kyu and Dan syllabus — as authentic and valuable contributions to the international martial arts community. Senkoukai Karate was also granted authorization to practice and teach these original katas worldwide.

The 20 katas recognised by IBKA Japan include ten Kyu grading katas — Kenshin Shodan, Kenshin Nidan, Kenshin Sandan, Kenshin Yondan, Kenshin Godan, Tetsuki Shodan, Tetsuki Nidan, Tetsuki Sandan, Tetsuki Yondan, and Tetsuki Godan — and ten Dan grading katas — Sengo, Raisen, Fuzan, Enka, Rekku, Kejin, Bakuran, Kuzetsu, Jingen, and Torai.

With recognitions from Vietnam, Indonesia, and Japan, the development has been described by international martial arts leaders as a significant moment for Indian karate and for the global standing of Senkoukai Karate as an India-origin independent system.

If you want, I can also rewrite this in a tighter “news agency” format (shorter paragraphs, more neutral tone), while keeping every name, award title, and date exactly the same.
