Over 2,000 Join Vibrant Two-Day Korean Culture Fest at EA Mall in Chennai

The event 2025 K-Lifestyle in Chennai, underscored Chennai’s growing interest in Korean culture and highlighted the role of cultural exchanges in fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.

Chennai, India: The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chennai, in collaboration with the InKo Centre and Kwave group, successfully hosted a two-day Korean cultural festival on April 10 and 11, 2026, at EA Mall, Chennai. The event witnessed an enthusiastic response, with over 2,000 attendees, including Chennai residents and members of the Korean community.

The festival offered an immersive experience into Korean culture, featuring traditional games, beauty sessions, fashion and style showcases, and lively performances.

Popular Korean games such as Jegi, Tuho, and Dakchi—widely recognized through global television series—attracted significant participation and excitement among visitors.

The event also included interactive sessions where attendees engaged in quizzes on Korean culture. Day two placed special emphasis on Korean skincare and beauty, alongside segments celebrating Korean pop culture. A major highlight was the Random Dance Play, a flash mob-style performance format that drew large participation from Chennai’s growing Korean pop fan community.

Speaking on the occasion, Chang Nyun Kim, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Chennai, said, “Even in my third year in Chennai, I continue to be deeply touched by the warmth and enthusiasm shown by the Indian community towards Korea. It is heartening to see such a diverse audience come together to celebrate not only Korean pop culture but also our heritage and traditions. Over these two days, we shared Korean food, culture, beauty, music, and performances, along with showcasing Korean products. We look forward to organizing more such engaging events in Chennai in the future.”

The festival was held alongside the ‘K Lifestyle in Chennai 2026’ fair, organized by KOTRA Chennai in partnership with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chennai, further strengthening cultural and economic ties between Korea and India.
