“If you are craving authentic Pan Asian food, this is the place to be!! truly could not have had a better experience. AMAZING food and drinks! Loved the unique concept as well of the Private Dining Rooms… I’ve not seen that anywhere else! Must visit!,” writes Sangeeta Wahi, Google Review.

Mal Cha has seven Private Dining Rooms (PDRs) for those who want to experience the luxury of an intimate dining experience. These dining rooms represent seven different philosophies of the Japanese culture, namely- Wabi Sabi, Ikigai, Shikita Ga Nai, Gaman, Oubaitori, Kaizen, and Shu Ha Ri. Each table can seat up to 9 people which is perfect for a celebration with friends and family or a corporate gathering. We have curated a set menu for each PDR inspired by these philosophies to give you an experience like never before!

The meaning of Shikita Ga Nai is – It cannot be helped. Something that we’ve all grown up hearing is advice and suggestions from people around us, but people of Japan truly try to imbibe it in their lives. Similar to ‘C’est La Vie’ in French or ‘Que Sera Sera’, it hints at the art of letting go of what you cannot help.

The Wabi Sabi is an ancient Japanese philosophy that means accepting the imperfections in life and making the most of them. As regards Ikigai, the word ‘Iki’ in Japanese means ‘life,’ and ‘gai’ describes value or worth. The Japanese believe in finding a reason, a purpose for being, and use Ikigai as a way of finding what you’re meant to do. Gaman is widely similar to that of having a high threshold for tolerance and patience because Gaman translates into enduring toughness and the unbearable with patience and dignity. And Oubaitori is a Japanese idiom that talks about never feeling the need to compare yourself to someone else.

Shu Ha Ri is a term that describes the stages of learning for a student. In conclusion, Shu Ha Rai means, ‘when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. When the student is ready, the teacher will disappear, in the words of Tao Te Ching.
