India’s first mini Japanese residential township breaks ground in Gurugram
Expected to be completed by the end of 2026, the project is poised to become an iconic symbol of Indo-Japanese friendship and a new address for Japanese families in India.
New Delhi, India — India’s first integrated Japanese-only residential mini township is taking shape in Gurugram, a bustling satellite city of New Delhi long known as the “mecca” for Japanese expatriates in India.
Designed to feature 128 apartments, along with commercial and recreational facilities, the ambitious AJU Japan Town project is poised to redefine cross-cultural living by offering a seamless blend of authentic Japanese lifestyle and modern Indian conveniences.
Strategically located in Sector 81 of New Gurugram, the township is being developed by the AJU Ryokan Group, a Japanese Hotel Company. It offers easy connectivity to key industrial and manufacturing hubs, including IMT Manesar, as well as quick access to the airport and major business districts in the NCR region.
“This is more than just a residential complex — it is a cultural bridge that brings the essence of Japan to India. We have taken a baby step to develop 128 apartments from 1-bhk to 4-bhk options, and plan to create more such but bigger projects across India,” said Prakash Yadav, promoter of the project.
“We are committed to providing a home away from home for Japanese families, ensuring they enjoy absolute comfort and familiarity even while living abroad,” he added.
This group has been hosting Japanese expatriates in their Japanese-only hotels across eight locations in India, including Gurugram, Manesar, Bawal, and Ahmedabad, for the last 16 years.
The foundation stone for this all-Japanese project was laid on July 4, 2025, in the presence of Ms. Kyoko Hokugo, Minister (Economic and Development), Embassy of Japan; Hiroyuki Nakano, Senior Director, JETRO; Ms. Jenica Kalra, Assistant Director, JETRO; Ms. Yuka Tsurumaru, Secretary, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII); Akira Kuriyama from JICA; Gajendra, President, Konnichiwa Japan Club; and Sanjeev K Ahuja, CEO, ACN Network.
The premier community will feature 128 luxurious units ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom apartments, each meticulously equipped with Japanese amenities such as ToTo washlets, bathtubs, air purification systems, and fully functional kitchens with rice cookers and IH stoves.
In addition to residential spaces, the project will offer extensive recreational and community facilities, including a large public bath, sauna, and steam rooms, a Japanese restaurant and café, a convenience store, a grocery shop, massage and wellness services, a gym, karaoke rooms, and even a golf driving range. Dedicated spaces for business — including meeting rooms, a banquet hall, and a business center — will also cater to the professional needs of residents.
Inder Yadav, co-promoter, emphasized the project’s cultural vision, “We wanted to create a vibrant hub where Japanese families can live comfortably while enjoying a strong sense of community and belonging. Gurugram has always been a preferred destination for Japanese nationals, and this project builds on that legacy.”
Expected to be completed by the end of 2026, AJU Japan Town is poised to become an iconic symbol of Indo-Japanese friendship and a new address for Japanese families seeking a harmonious, culturally rooted lifestyle in India.

Be indian and live with Indians should be the motto for any expatriates. Why make them have their own colonies.Rethink the project which not only make the expatriates strangers and also polarise country’s cultural diversity.
