New Delhi — In its bid to make Indian students employable for Korean companies by imparting practical knowledge about Korean work ethics and culture, the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) has launched a new education program, “Unlocking Potential: From Learning to Performance.”

Lee Jae Kyeong, Director of KOSME at Korea Corner, JNU

For this, KOSME has partnered with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to help students bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical business skills, with its first lecture successfully held on September 4, 2025, at the Korea Corner, Centre for Korean Studies. The KOSME has designed a six-week curriculum to help students build comprehensive expertise in various fields.

While emphasising the significance of this educational partnership, Lee Jae Kyeong, Director of KOSME, said, “Since last year, I’ve been supporting Korean SMEs in India and have encountered many challenges faced by Indians employed at Korean companies. While there are many benefits of working in Korean companies, the lack of understanding of Korean Business culture has posed challenges, leading to workplace conflicts and even early resignations at times.”

“Thus, we decided to develop an educational program on Korean Business culture and began implementing it last year to support the young workforce in India. The program, offered over six weeks to Indian employees at companies in the New Delhi GBC, received positive feedback. I thought it would be beneficial to expand this educational program to universities interested in Korea and the Korean language, which is why I am here at the Korean department of JNU today,” the KOSME director Lee added.

On this occasion, Prof. Kaushal Kumar, the Head of the Korean Language Department at JNU, called upon the attending students to get ready to work with the Korean company by imbibing the very work culture of the Korean companies, such as being punctual, task-oriented and owning the responsibility.

This course will run for six weeks, with students learning the essential competencies required to thrive in Korea’s dynamic business environment. Instructor Kang Seung Jung will lead the lectures from the edu-tech company I-Kets. The curriculum is structured as a hybrid program, combining both theoretical and practical elements to help students develop the skills needed to handle various real-world challenges.

While addressing the students, Kang Seung Jung said, “Beyond simply transmitting knowledge, the program aims to empower students to solve problems independently and generate tangible results. To achieve this, it has adopted an ‘Action-Based Learning’ approach, which includes real business projects, role-playing, and mock presentations. The curriculum also integrates the use of modern AI tools like ChatGPT and Canva to ensure students are equipped with the digital skills required in today’s workforce.”
