New Delhi, India — Medanta – The Medicity and the Korean Association in India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday, formalising a community-focused healthcare partnership for Korean residents and their families living in India. The collaboration commits Medanta to coordinated access across its hospitals and clinics, including a dedicated Korean help desk and strengthened emergency response pathways.

Lee Kwang-il, Chairman of the Korean Association in India and Dr Naresh Trehan, Founder & CMD, Medanta, formally signed and exchanged the MoU papers for their respective organisations, mindful of the Korean community association members and community leaders.

The understanding between the two organisations coincided with the sacred day Navratras Week on September 23, while it also occurred a little before the Korean Chuseok Day and the Thanksgiving days, which started from October 6th. Dr Trehan is a renowned doctor with global acclaim, being one of the few to receive India’s top Civilian Honours, the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, as well as many other accolades to his credit.

After the formal signing and exchange of MoU papers, Lee Kwang-il, Chairman of the Korean Association in India, delivered a congratulatory address situating the agreement as a community milestone.

“This MoU is more than a formal agreement—it is a promise of care, trust, and collaboration,” he said, adding that the partnership would deliver “seamless access to world-class healthcare at Medanta hospitals and clinics—supported by dedicated coordination, a Korean desk, and enhanced emergency services.”

He thanked Dr. Naresh Trehan, Founder & CMD, Medanta, and his leadership team for extending the partnership and acknowledged the presence of Kim Tae-kyung, Consul at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, whose participation “lends added significance to this occasion.”

In his congratulatory remarks, Dr. Trehan welcomed the association’s members to Medanta’s ecosystem and underscored the hospital’s commitment to clinical excellence, patient-centric processes and culturally responsive care. The event concluded with closing remarks by Consul Kim, who highlighted the broader importance of people-centric India–Korea cooperation.

Thanking Medanta and the Embassy, Chairman Lee said he was confident the collaboration would become “a model of cooperation between India and the Korean community,” combining Medanta’s global standards with the Association’s commitment to member well-being.

Also present on the occasion were Kim Hyun Ju, Senior Vice President, Dr Abarm Lee, Vice President, Won Ju Kim, and Edward Seo, from the Korean Association in India.

Prior to this, the ceremony opened with a welcome note by Satya Prakash Chaturvedi, Head – Corporate & Partnerships at Medanta, followed by context-setting remarks from Sanjeev K Ahuja, Honorary Chair, PR Committee of the Korean Association, who outlined the need for predictable, language-sensitive and rapid-care navigation for expatriate families.

The ceremony capped a concise program that moved from welcome and context to formal signing and congratulatory addresses before closing with the Embassy’s endorsement—signalling a practical, service-oriented partnership designed to translate swiftly from paper to patient experience.
