New Delhi, June 21, 2026: Emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare and active living in an aging society, the Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN) celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 across its headquarters, research institutes, holistic treatment centers, and outpatient departments (OPDs), drawing participation from more than 15,000 people nationwide.

This year’s International Day of Yoga was observed under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” highlighting the role of yoga in helping individuals maintain physical, mental, and emotional well-being throughout every stage of life. The initiative aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose leadership the Ministry of Ayush has actively promoted yoga as an evidence-based and health-promoting healthcare system.

CCRYN, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush, has been at the forefront of advancing scientific research in yoga and naturopathy. Through clinical studies conducted at its headquarters, research centers, holistic treatment facilities, and OPDs, the council has been developing standardized, evidence-based yoga protocols and integrating them into community healthcare initiatives. These efforts aim to encourage people to adopt yoga as a regular part of their daily routine, thereby contributing to healthier families and more resilient communities.

At the main event held at CCRYN headquarters in New Delhi, Dr. Jyoti Keswani, Director of CCRYN, joined yoga practitioners in performing the Common Yoga Protocol. Addressing participants, she encouraged citizens to embrace the concept of “Yoga 365,” urging them to practice yoga every day of the year rather than limiting it to a single annual observance.

Yoga Day celebrations were also organized at CCRYN’s research institutes, known as CRIYN, located in Devarkhana, Jhajjar (Haryana), Rohini (New Delhi), and Nagamangala (Karnataka). The AYUSH Wellness Centre at Rashtrapati Bhavan conducted yoga sessions at three different locations and also organized special programs for the Army Guard Battalion, where personnel, staff members, and dignitaries actively participated in the Common Yoga Protocol.

In addition, all eight CCRYN-operated OPDs successfully hosted Yoga Day activities, witnessing enthusiastic public participation. The widespread observance reflected the growing acceptance of yoga as a practical and accessible tool for healthy aging and preventive healthcare.

Through its research, outreach programs, and public engagement initiatives, CCRYN continues to strengthen the Ministry of Ayush’s mission of promoting holistic well-being and ensuring that individuals can lead healthier, more active, and self-reliant lives as they age.
