Indo-Taiwan Schools’ International Education Programme with 28 Taiwanese, 26 Indian schools launched 

The International Study Tour Programme was initially launched by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan in the year 2003 with Japan and Korea.

NEW DELHI: Taiwan has for the first time launched its International Education Program in India involving 28 schools from Taiwan and 26 schools from India.

With an aim to enable enabled the students on both sides to get an in-depth knowledge of each other’s culture, academic system, heritage, etc., the International Education Program was rolled out in New Delhi on Thursday.

The Taiwan’s Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in India together with the Mount Abu Public School, Rohini organized an inauguration event and an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the two sides on Thursday.

The principals, teachers and some of the students from the participating Indian schools participating were present physically on this occasion while those from Taiwan joined the event virtually.

The International Education Program aims to strengthen the relationship between Taiwan and other countries from the base level by organizing exchange programs with students of primary and secondary schools from different countries.

With the success of the pilot project with some Indian schools in 2021, it was decided to formally launch the International Education Program on March 24.

Due to the pandemic, the exchange programme took place virtually wherein the partner schools mutually decide the topic that has to be discussed among the students virtually through digital platforms. It is hoped that in the near future the students can physically attend the exchange program and get to experience the rich heritage, culture and beauty of Taiwan and India.

The event was organized at the Mount Abu Public School, Rohini, in the presence of Ambassador Baushuan Ger from the Taipei Economic Center, Education Division Director Peters Chen, and Principal Jyoti Arora from Mount Abu School, Rohini.

The students of Mount Abu Public School performed a welcome song and a traditional vibrant dance called “Aheer”. On this occasion, the students from Mount Abu Public School sang a welcome song also.  Ambassador Ger was all praise for the Mount Abu Public School for its efforts to put a great event and also focused upon the fact that how the mutual collaboration between the schools of India and Taiwan and helped both sides to overcome the problems.

In her remarks Ms. Jyoti Arora congratulated the Director of Education Division Mr. Peters Chen for being the guiding force in establishing educational links between India and Taiwan.

She also mentioned that she was privileged and honored to host the event with 26 leading schools joining hands for a historic exchange program. Through the International Education Program she hopes that the students can cultivate the awareness of the world that they will be leading in the near future. She stated that the purpose of the event was to make the learners realize that there is diversity across the globe which they should acknowledge, appreciate and respect.

The partnership with Taiwan is of utmost importance to implement the 2030 agenda of Sustainable Development Goals and understanding each other with relevance, she added.

Director of education division, Peters Chen highlighted the key points of the International Education Programme 2.0 followed by the signing of the MoU by the principals of 26 schools in India who participated in the event. After the signing of the MoU, the students present at the event also got an opportunity to interact with the principals from Taiwan as well as the dignitaries from Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India.  The event ended with the presentation of the souvenirs, photographs followed by the vote of thanks.

The International Study Tour Programme was firstly launched by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan in the year 2003 with Japan and Korea, with the aim to internationalize education and connecting schools from Taiwan with the world.

Through this project the MOE in Taiwan had International Education Programme 1.0 in 2011 and 2.0 in 2020, aimed to strengthen the relationship between Taiwan and other countries from the base level by organizing exchange programs with students of primary and secondary schools from different countries.

The Program enabled the students to get an in-depth knowledge of each other’s culture, academic system, heritage, etc. With the success of the pilot project with some Indian schools in 2021, it was decided to formally launch the International Education Program today.
