Japanese Ambassador Felicitates Dr. Jyotsna Suri on the Conferment of Decoration

NEW DELHI: Ambassador of Japan to India, Suzuki Satoshi, hosted a ceremony on Thursday to felicitate Dr. Jyotsna Suri, Former President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Chairperson and Managing Director of Bharat Hotels Limited, on receiving the Decoration of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star.

The reception witnessed the presence of Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways, and Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Indian Prime Minister, among other dignitaries representing the Indian public and private sectors.

In November 2019, Dr. Suri was decorated at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to strengthening Japan-India economic relations and promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Ambassador Suzuki, in his congratulatory remarks, acknowledged Dr. SURI’s service as the President of FICCI and Chairperson of FICCI Tourism Committee, as well as the Co-Chair of FICCI Forum of Parliamentarians, enhancing Japan-India economic relations and organizing Japan –India Tourism Summit. As the Co-Chair of the FICCI Forum of Parliamentarians, she also contributed to revitalizing exchanges between parliamentarians from Japan and India.

Dr. Suri, in her acceptance speech, expressed her gratitude to the Government of Japan for this Decoration and said she feels great responsibility with this award. However, she also said this award encourages her to strengthen the already robust Japan-India Relationship further.
