K-Quiz India 2026 Celebrates Korean Language, Culture and Indo-Korean Friendship at JNU
Students from schools across Delhi-NCR came together for a vibrant celebration of Korean culture, language, music and friendship at Jawaharlal Nehru University.
New Delhi, May 26, 2026: The Korean Education Centre India successfully organised K-Quiz India 2026 – The 1st Korean Language & Culture Quiz Championship for Indian School Students at Jawaharlal Nehru University, bringing together students from several schools across Delhi-NCR for a grand celebration of Korean language, culture and Indo-Korean friendship.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from school children who gathered to showcase their knowledge of Korea through quizzes, cultural performances and interactive sessions. The programme began with the Indian and Korean National Anthems, reflecting the spirit of friendship and cultural exchange between the two nations.
The event featured congratulatory and special remarks by distinguished guests including Lee Seong-ho, Lee Kwang-il, Prof. Ravikesh and Pankaj Agarwal.
Addressing the students, Ambassador of South Korea in India Lee Seong-ho said that young people are the future, and if their imagination and potential are ignited with the right opportunities, nothing can stop India and Korea from building a stronger partnership together. He highlighted the growing popularity of Korean culture in India through K-pop, K-dramas and Korean films, saying cultural exchange has become an important bridge connecting the youth of both countries.
The Ambassador also appreciated the increasing interest of Indian students in Korean language education and encouraged them to continue strengthening ties between India and Korea through friendship, learning and cultural understanding.
Speaking at the event, Prof Ravikesh, Registrar, JNU spoke about how Korean culture gradually became popular in India through entertainment and youth engagement. He noted that K-pop, K-dramas and Korean movies have inspired many Indian students to learn the Korean language and understand Korean traditions more deeply.
The event also included a welcome address by the Director of the Korean Education Centre India, who explained the vision and purpose behind organising K-Quiz India 2026 and thanked participating schools, teachers and students for their enthusiastic support. Special appreciation was extended to Lee Kwang-il, Chairman, Korean Association in india, for his valuable guidance and encouragement towards strengthening friendship between India and Korea.
He called upon the youngsters of India to act as bridge with the youths of Korea and strengthen freindship between the two countries.
The cultural programme featured choir performances, Korean fan dance performances, Indian dance presentations and energetic K-pop performances by participating schools and university students. The quiz competition was anchored by Kang Seung-jeong, Director, I-Kets and Shreya, creating an exciting atmosphere for participants and audiences alike.
The event concluded with an awards ceremony, certificate distribution and a commemorative photo session with guests, organisers and participants, celebrating a successful initiative aimed at deepening cultural and educational ties between India and Korea.
