Chhattisgarh CM’s Japan–S Korea Visit Secures Global Investments, Unlocks New Opportunities
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s landmark diplomatic tour brings six major investment proposals, forging partnerships in technology, EVs, skill development, and heralding Chhattisgarh’s emergence as an international economic hub.
New Delhi, India – Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai recently completed a landmark eight-day visit to Japan and South Korea, an initiative aimed at drawing significant foreign investment and boosting the state’s industrial and technological profile. The official delegation, comprising senior bureaucrats and business leaders, departed on August 22 and returned on August 29, receiving a grand welcome in Raipur, where traditional Karma and Panthi dances greeted the CM and his team.

The primary objective of the delegation’s tour was to present Chhattisgarh as an emerging industrial hub, ready to welcome international partnerships in fields like food processing, electronics, electric vehicles, skill development, and environmental protection. The trip was organised on the invitation of the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) for the prestigious World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, where Chhattisgarh established its own pavilion inside the Bharat Pavilion, highlighting its economic potential, rich heritage, and cultural assets.
The CM spoke about leveraging the Rs 6 lakh crore investments promised to India by Japan after Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit, positioning Chhattisgarh for a significant share in this economic engagement.
While highlighting the successful completion of his eight-day tour of Japan and South Korea from August 22–29, the Chief Minister, said, “During the visit, we engaged with leading companies, investors, and cultural institutions, presenting the state’s new industrial policy and opportunities in sectors such as food processing, electric mobility, environment conservation, logistics, and skill training.”
The CM underlined that the tour secured potential investments worth nearly ₹6 lakh crore over the next decade, which will bring large-scale employment and sustainable development to Chhattisgarh. He stressed the importance of promoting cultural ties alongside business cooperation, citing positive responses to showcasing Chhattisgarh’s traditions and heritage. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the people for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to transparent governance, job creation, and attracting global investors. The visit is expected to open new doors for foreign investment and strengthen Chhattisgarh’s economic growth.
In Tokyo, the delegation held a series of investor connect sessions. These high-level meetings with Japanese business leaders and trade bodies focused on attracting technology transfer, industrial collaborations, and direct investment in sectors including IT, clean energy, semiconductors, textiles, and food processing. The Chief Minister specifically emphasised Chhattisgarh’s new industrial policy, which has already bagged investment proposals worth Rs 6.5 lakh crore since its launch in November last year.

Chhattisgarh’s Osaka expo presentation took centre stage, with the state’s pavilion drawing over 30,000 visitors daily. It was the only Indian state to provide exhibit information in Japanese, a move lauded for its investor-friendly approach. The delegation showcased not only industrial and commercial prospects but also the region’s crafts, with displays of Dhokra and Kosa handicrafts alongside significant Buddhist heritage from Sirpur.
Marking a milestone, Vishnu Deo Sai became the first Chhattisgarh Chief Minister to lead an official delegation to South Korea. The visit’s highlight was the signing of an MoU with the India Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ICCK), which will act as a knowledge partner to support skill development and advance technological knowledge transfer for Chhattisgarh’s industries. Investor roundtables in Seoul facilitated direct talks with Korean majors in the fields of EV charging infrastructure, rail technology, and clean mobility—sectors where Korea is seen as a global leader.
The tour resulted in six concrete investment proposals across key sectors, promising thousands of jobs for Chhattisgarhi youth and fairer prices for farmers’ produce. Officials said these projects will focus on sustainable industry and knowledge-based manufacturing. Sai’s meetings with the Indian communities in Japan and Korea further strengthened diaspora ties, with the Chief Minister lauding their role in promoting Chhattisgarh’s image abroad.

Sai described the trip as “a great success in bringing foreign investment and opening doors for a better industrial future for the state,” noting that Chhattisgarh’s global expansion strategy now extends beyond traditional Indian investment hubs to new markets across Asia and the world.
Going forward, Chhattisgarh’s participation at the World Expo and sustained international outreach are expected to solidify its reputation as a major player in India’s global economic vision. The state is now positioned to leverage its unique blend of cultural heritage and industrial ambition, attracting world-class investments and empowering its workforce.
