Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai Brings ‘Know Japan 2025’ Cultural Showcase to Pune
Two-day event on October 10–11 at PCCOE highlights Japan’s education, career opportunities, and rich cultural traditions.
Pune, India – The Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai, in collaboration with Pimpri Chinchwad Education Trust’s Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering (PCCOE), is set to host Know Japan 2025 on October 10–11 at the PCET Auditorium in Pune. The two-day event, designed to deepen Indo-Japanese ties, will feature sessions on education, career prospects, innovation, and Japan’s cultural traditions.
The initiative, jointly organised by PCCOE’s International Relations Cell and Japan Facilitation Centre, aims to connect students, professionals, and the broader public with opportunities to learn about Japan’s academic landscape, career avenues, and its celebrated cultural heritage.
Day one of the event will spotlight academic and professional collaboration. Following a welcome address by PCCOE leadership, sessions will feature Japanese and Indian experts sharing insights into STEM education, career pathways in Japan, digital innovation, and cross-cultural engineering practices.
Notable speakers include Renya Kikuchi from SCCIP Japan, Dr Hari Damle, founder member of JALTAP, and industry leaders such as Mr Anand Shiralkar of DG FutureTech India and Mr Hiro Ishida from Mosaique Pvt. Ltd. The sessions are expected to provide valuable guidance for students and professionals aspiring to build global careers.
Day two will focus on cultural immersion and scholarship opportunities. Ms Hamuro Megumi, Consul (Culture and Information Section) at the Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai, will brief participants about the prestigious MEXT scholarship program. This will be followed by sessions exploring career options in engineering and IT, alongside live demonstrations of traditional Japanese arts.
Mrs Arundhati Deshpande will present Ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arrangement, while Dr Sujata Bhat will highlight the aesthetics of Bonsai. An Origami workshop led by Mrs Swati Dharmadhikari will offer attendees hands-on engagement with the iconic Japanese paper-folding art.
The cultural showcase will conclude with interactive displays of Ikebana and Origami, offering participants an opportunity to experience these art forms firsthand. Dr Sandeep Patil, Associate Dean of International Relations at PCCOE, will deliver the vote of thanks.
Through Know Japan 2025, the Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai reaffirms its commitment to strengthening India-Japan relations by fostering academic collaboration, professional exchange, and cultural appreciation between the two nations.
