Kingpin of Thak Thak gang that robbed Japanese exe, arrested

The kingpin Vinoth Kumar is a native of Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu – a state in southern India with its capital city Chennai. Kumar would lead a luxurious lifestyle and would take flights to return to Tamil Nadu to sell laptops there. He sold mobile phones in New Delhi.

New Delhi. The Gurgaon police have busted the notorious Thak Thak (Knock Knock) gang and arrested its kingpin, that had robbed a Japanse executive last week of his laptop and mobile phone.

the police also have recovered 10 laptops, one two-wheeler, and other items from his possession.

However, the laptop and mobile phone and other documents which the miscreants had lifted from the car of the Japanese executive by breaking the window glasses, are yet to be recovered from the gang that had sold these off to someone.

Police officials are interrogating him to find it out. It has found that the gang has a total of five members and they are at large and are yet to be arrested.

Recently, Japanese executive Go Kawamura was robbed of his laptop, mobile phone and important documents on Delhi-Jaipur highway when he was on his way back from the company’s plant in industrial township Bawal. The miscreants struck when the car he was riding with the driver got flat tyres. As the driver was busy changing the tyre and Go Kawamura went to an eatery to fetch something for him leaving his bag on the rear seat of the car.

The gang had been was operating in Gurugram for the last several years. He was arrested from MG Road when he was about to break the glass window of a parked car, his aides managed to flee from the spot when the police team raided, said police officials.

Kumar is a history-sheeter and involved in the crime for the last 10 years and was arrested for laptop thefts and recently came out on bail, said police.

The police said this gang was involved in a spate of thefts. They would use slingshots to break the car windows and flee with laptop bags, money, and other valuables.

Kumar along with his accomplices used to target cars parked on the main road outside the mall or near markets in which bags were kept. They used to break the windows with the help of slingshots and steal the bags.

The gang members lived in a rented accommodation in Delhi and used to come to the city either by a cab or on a metro.

Two of the gang members used to take rounds of the targeted area and used to inform Vinoth following which he would visit the spot. After taking away the bag they used to visit an isolated spot and threw unnecessary stuff and used to shift the stuff to a bag which they carried with themselves. The mastermind used to board a metro and return to Delhi.

The police are interrogating the accused and said he has confessed to one recent incident where they had approached a woman who had parked her car on MG Road. One of them had knocked on her window and told her that oil from her car was leaking. The woman got off to check when the other gang members opened the door of the back seat and stole a bag containing ornaments and cash.
