Pan India Online Korean Culinary Challenge 2020 to declare winners on It’l Kimchi Day

NEW DELHI: In an effort to promote Korean cuisines and culinary art in India, the Korean Cultural Centre India (KCCI) and Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology have launched a joint online Korean culinary contest ‘Pan India Online Korean Culinary Challenge 2020’  for the students as well as professional chefs.

The participants in both categories have started submitting their Korean culinary cooking videos for this pan-India contest.

The names of winners would be declared on November 22 – International Kimchi Day as it is observed by the Government of the Republic of Korea (ROK). Kimchi is a Korean traditional vegetable salad, which is an integral part of Korean food.

For utilizing the advantage as an online event, the contest will invite netizen`s participation in the evaluation process by checking the viewership number of participants` videos.

The best 10 videos will be selected by netizens evaluation, and the 10 videos will be judged by a professional jury panel including Korean National Food master, Professor Lee Yeonsoon.

The online event aims at promoting Korean food and culinary art in India.

Beyond the limit of taste, considered as the first criteria of food and cooking, cook`s skills and performance through video, communication skill with netizens, unspecified individuals, rich colors, and decoration of Korean cuisine are set as evaluation criteria.

This event is evaluated as a challenging and experimental trial overcoming the previous stereotypes regarding food and cooking.

Shin Bong-kil, the ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, Satbir Singh – Director of Studies, National Council for Hotel Management Catering Technology, Dr. Raj Kishore Bhandari, Principal of Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology will be attending the award ceremony on November 22.

In his statement, Shin Bong-kil has said, “I expect Korean cuisines introduced and promoted to the Indian foodservice industry through this event participated by students and chefs from best hotels in India. And I wish other public also to get comfort and release though experiencing new taste through the visual platform in Corona situation.”
