Japan-India Maitri (Friendship) Golf Cup 2025 Coming up in Delhi NCR on Oct 25
Part of the ongoing Japan Month celebration, it is a major diplomatic golf event by ACN Network to deepen business and cultural links between Japan and India.
New Delhi – The Delhi NCR region is gearing up to host the Japan-India Maitri Golf Cup 2025 on October 25 (Saturday), a prestigious sporting and networking event organized by Asian Community News Network (ACN Network) and strongly backed by the Embassy of Japan, the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII), and the renowned Aju Group of Japanese hotels. This landmark event, now a signature feature of the annual Japan Month festivities, continues to play a vital role in enhancing bilateral relations through sport, diplomacy, and business engagement.

Japan Month, commemorated every September and October, unfolds as a mosaic of cultural, technological, and business events curated by the Japan Embassy in New Delhi. Among these, the Maitri Golf Cup stands out as a flagship initiative, offering a blend of international sportsmanship, executive networking, and people-to-people connections.
The 2025 edition follows the resounding success of last year’s event in Gurugram, where industry leaders and diplomats from both nations teed off in friendly competition while fostering discussions on trade, investment, education, and tourism.

Set at one of Delhi NCR’s premier golf courses, the Maitri Golf Cup will see participation from top executives of Japanese companies in India, leading Indian industrialists, diplomats, government officials, and special invitees from both countries. In addition to the Embassy’s high-profile presence, JCCII—which represents over 560 Japanese member companies operating across India—will bring together influential members from the Indo-Japanese business community, promoting further collaboration and sharing best practices in key sectors.

Echoing Japan Month’s broader mission, the ACN Network, led by founder and editor-in-chief/CEO Sanjeev K Ahuja, has conceptualised this event to advance Indo-Japanese goodwill, linking sports diplomacy to deeper political, cultural, and economic objectives. The support of the Embassy of Japan and corporate sponsors underscores its growing stature as a bridge for dialogue and personal relationships, vital for expanding the strategic partnership between both nations.
Last year’s event, hosted in Gurugram, attracted a diverse set of participants, including diplomats, government representatives, and business leaders. Awards spanned categories such as Gross Winner, Runner-up Net Score, Longest Drive, and Closest to Pin, with a special “Only Female Golfer” recognition reflecting the inclusive spirit of the event. The presence of guests from the various state and central government ministries, including MEA, added a cross-cultural dimension, strengthening regional ties amidst the formal exchange.
This year, the tournament promises further innovation and expanded outreach. With the Aju Group of Japanese hotels on board, hospitality and guest experience will reach new standards, reflecting the premium Japan is bringing to business tourism in India. Privileged invitees will enjoy Japanese culinary delights, a networking dinner & prize distribution ceremony, and special engagement zones showcasing facets of Japanese culture, technology, and lifestyle.
The Japan-India Maitri Golf Cup 2025 also aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing call for enhanced people-to-people connections with Japan, further solidifying the foundation for long-term diplomatic and commercial progress. According to event organisers and diplomats, sport and informal exchanges such as these create spaces where decision-makers from both countries can build trust, spark collaboration, and drive solutions to shared challenges.

As Delhi NCR prepares for this unique celebration of Indo-Japan friendship, the Japan-India Maitri Golf Cup 2025 stands as a testament to the expanding scope of bilateral ties—transcending politics and trade, and finding common ground on the fairways. For participants and guests alike, October 25 promises a day of memorable golf, meaningful connections, and a reaffirmation of the bonds that unite Japan and India.
