Delhi to Witness Grand Media Conclave of Web Journalists Led by WJAI

New Delhi, India – At a time when national leaders will be assembling in the Indian Parliament during the Monsoon Session to deliberate on policies shaping the country’s future, another significant gathering will be taking place in the capital — that of India’s growing community of web and digital journalists.

The Web Journalists Association of India (WJAI) is set to organise a large-scale national convention in Delhi to spotlight the future of web journalism and advocate for the rights and welfare of digital media professionals.

The announcement was made during a strategic meeting of WJAI’s Delhi-NCR Chapter held at its office in Sector 62, Noida. The meeting, chaired by Delhi-NCR Chapter President Pankaj Prasun, resulted in a series of key decisions, including the plan to host a grand seminar-cum-convention in the last week of July 2025. The central theme of the event will be “The Future of Web and Digital Journalists in India.”

According to the organisers, the upcoming convention will be more than just a dialogue. It will serve as a powerful platform to formally raise critical demands with the central government. These include a minimum health insurance cover of ₹10 lakh for journalists, the introduction of a pension scheme specifically for web and digital journalists, enhanced legal support and safety frameworks, and affordable land allotment schemes for journalists to ensure residential and professional stability.

Another forward-looking aspect of the seminar will focus on how digital journalists can boost revenue through digital marketing tools, equipping them with modern strategies to thrive in the ever-evolving digital media ecosystem.

WJAI Delhi-NCR Chapter General Secretary Imran Khan confirmed that the event will be organised on a large scale and will feature key Union Ministers and Members of Parliament as special invitees. Eminent personalities from the media industry are also expected to grace the occasion, contributing their insights and support.

Chapter Vice President Roshan Srivastava noted that final decisions regarding the venue and exact dates of the convention will be shared soon. Meanwhile, Associate Secretary Santosh Kumar added that preparations are underway to invite web journalists from across the country, and a nationwide membership drive will also be launched as part of the outreach strategy.

President Pankaj Prasun emphasized that all preparations for the mega event are being made under the guidance of WJAI National President Anand Kaushal, whose vision continues to shape the association’s expanding role in supporting digital journalists. Prasun further suggested that a national executive committee meeting of WJAI should also be convened during the convention, aligning national discussions with grassroots concerns.

To ensure the smooth and impactful execution of the event, several core members of the Delhi-NCR Chapter have been entrusted with key responsibilities. These include Vice President Subhash Chandra, Associate Secretaries Harshnath Jha and Ashutosh Jha, and Treasurer Prakash Kumar. The team will work collectively to oversee logistics, communication, and programme coordination.

The chapter has resolved to hold weekly review meetings to track progress and ensure flawless planning. Under the continued guidance of the national committee, WJAI aims to deliver a landmark event that not only amplifies the voice of digital journalists but also shapes the policy dialogue surrounding their rights and responsibilities in India’s digital age.
