Gurgaon. Dr. Shilpi Gautam – a radiologist from Delhi, swept the show – 14th Women Car Rally 2019 from Gurgaon to Ranthambore held on March 30, the second time in the row by lifting the trophy of this annual event.

Driving Ford Endeavour SUV with her husband Dr. Vivek Guatam a surgeon in the navigation seat, and two children Samar and Sara Gautam in the back seat, Shilpi sailed it through the tough driving track of Delhi-Jaipur highway and emerged winner out of about 100 contestants.

Driving the same car last year in 2018 too, Shilpi was declared the winner and she was the first runner up in the previous year 2017 too.

Shilpi made her presence felt at the start of the show on March 30 morning when she flagged off the rally from a hotel on Sohna road. It’s a ritual set by the organiser NGO Uthaan that the winner of the past rally flags off the event.

Interestingly, Shilpi a resident of SDA, learned car driving a year after her marriage in 2008 only. Last year too, she had driven the same SUV to win the event.

As the theme of the rally was “Save Tigers”, most of the participants were either dressed in tiger skin attires or had their vehicles decorated around this theme as they headed towards the den of tigers – Ranthambore in Rajasthan on March 30 and return the next day.

Shivani Bhatnagar from Dhakar Group was there to support the save tiger slogan, said that winning was not ever the criteria but it was more about the spirit of participation in the event and support the cause. All seven members of the group were dressed tigress attires and makeups as well.

Arti and her navigator Aditi came up with the concept of ‘Wild Cats’ said that participating in the rally was fun with a purpose.
