New Delhi, India—The Korean Cultural Centre India, in collaboration with the National Taekwondo Museum of Korea, inaugurated a unique cultural exhibition titled “Taekwondo Facing the World” on Monday. The exhibition celebrated Taekwondo’s international legacy and enduring spirit. Held at the Centre’s gallery in New Delhi, the event attracted dignitaries, martial arts practitioners, art enthusiasts, and members of the general public.

The exhibition, which chronicles Taekwondo’s evolution from a post-war Korean discipline to a globally recognized Olympic sport, was formally opened with a ceremonial lamp lighting and speeches by invited guests. The evening began with a tea reception at Dalgrak, followed by opening remarks introducing the exhibition’s theme and objectives.

The VIP curation tour highlighted the program, offering guests a first-hand look at the carefully assembled collection of historical artifacts, multimedia exhibits, and interpretive displays. Designed to educate and inspire, the exhibition also aims to deepen public understanding of the philosophy, values, and aesthetics embedded in Taekwondo’s practice.

The cultural vibrancy of Korea was further showcased through dynamic performances, including traditional Korean music by the Samulnori team ‘Hae-O-Reum’ and a high-energy Taekwondo demonstration by the performance troupe ‘TAEKWONCRE’.

Speaking on the occasion, Hwang Il Yong, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre India, noted, “This exhibition is more than a tribute to a martial art — it’s a bridge connecting cultures through shared values of discipline, perseverance, and peace.”

“Taekwondo Facing the World” is designed to engage a wide audience—from seasoned martial artists to newcomers—through interactive zones, live demonstrations, and educational storytelling. It is a landmark celebration of Korea’s intangible cultural heritage in India.
