Poomsae team for participating at 2nd All India Inter SAI – Korea Ambassador’s Cup Taekwondo Championship can apply till 31st May for free

New Delhi. Korean Cultural Centre India (KCCI) in association with Sports Association of India (SAI) is organizing 2nd All India Inter SAI – Korea Ambassador’s Cup Taekwondo Championship 2019 at K. D. Jadhav Indoor wrestling hall, Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi from 7th June to 10th June 2019.

The event will witness the participation in two forms: Gyeorugi and Poomsae in cadet, junior and senior category.

The inauguration ceremony and senior medal ceremony will take place at 5 pm, on 7th June.

For Poomsae, any Indian national players with Dan certificate and TFI/ Kukkiwon cards can participate as KCCI Poomsae team by applying till 31st May for free. Players can apply by downloading the application from http://india.korean-culture.org  (application as an attachment).

In Gyeorugi category, SAI athletes and medalists of 1st KCCI Director’s cup Taekwondo Championship will compete.

Selected medalists of the competition will go to Korea for further training and participating in 2019 Chuncheon Korea Open International Taekwondo Championship and 2019 Kimunyong Cup International Open Taekwondo Championship, which would be a great platform for future Olympic.

Kim Kum-pyoung, Director of KCCI, said “As an international sport, Taekwondo is nourishing student’s body and mind by teaching respect and discipline as well as self-defense. Talented Taekwondo athletes of India will get an opportunity to train and upgrade themselves through training camp.”

As an Olympic game, Taekwondo is gaining popularity in India, especially at schools. The renowned sport has approximately 80 million practitioners in more than 200 countries around the world.

Gyeorugi is full-contact sparring between two competitors in a limited area. In competition, players should get more points than opponents by various skillful kicks and defense motions.  Poomsae is a pre-arranged set of movements of defense and attack. Accuracy, execution of technical movements and presentation are assessed.
